  1. First, it's not going to happen. There will not be a firesale until AA is gone. Secondly, why do you want Franco...you need someone who makes injured Melky look like a sprinter. I can't take any minor league hitter who moves around as much as Franco seriously. IMO, he will be Lawrie in the bigs...a good start but when the book is out on him that he can't hit slow stuff away, he'll fall apart.
  2. so where are the Jays in Runners left in scoring position this year... http://www.teamrankings.com/mlb/stat/runners-left-in-scoring-position-per-game 4th lowest. Maybe those saying we are the worst at it should watch more games of other teams.
  3. I came in from my run to hear "back to back Kelly Johnson". Buck and Tabby at least do your research, Myers is out of the lineup cause he has a sore wrist.
  4. that's why Sam Fuld gets hurt...that's all out effort heading towards a wall.
  5. where would you pick Kemp right now using this format? I'd have a really hard time using a top 2 round pick on him. There is something about those guys that played CF for a little too long when they should have been moved to a corner...Wells, Crawford, Hamilton, Kemp and even Granderson. Stay away from Choo next year.
  6. all sunk for him because he couldn't trade Yunel (after he confirmed our deal I might add). Yeah I don't mind what he got considering where Kemp is right now, still I expect Kemp to rebound...of course I spent a year thinking Crawford would rebound in Boston, sometimes good hitters fall apart earlier than others.
  7. Cards call up 30 year old Brock Peterson for his big league debut, the guy even has the name of a True Cardinal. I expect he'll somehow get time in the lineup, hit .400 and slug over 1.00.
  8. to think that Ben could have had Segura, Wainwright and Saunders for Kemp prior to the season starting. Timing is everything.
  9. pretty sure that $119 includes the $8.5M from Florida. Our actual salaries this year are $127M with all the guys they have brought up.
  10. for me personally I'd take him to arbitration, tell him to show up without representation just to have the great laugh. Pay him the arbitration amount and then release him. It would be worth the money.
  11. our current payroll is at the top of the page directly from BP/Cot's http://www.bluejaysmessageboard.com/threads/83-Toronto-Blue-Jays-Contracts-and-Payroll
  12. I would give my left nut to sit in on the JPA arbitration case and hear him give his case as to why he deserves $3M.
  13. no doubt about it. it's going to be a tough sell in the off season to get those tickets sold but I just booked September tickets on a weekend and the tickets are in the section 510 so there won't be a drop off for weekends this year. It's possible they try to make another off season splash but damn they have to worried you would think...and they have so much less for trading assets.
  14. zero chance you rebuild in a time of increased attendance, you rebuild when all aspects of things are on a downside. Chances are despite the poor play and increased payroll the profits are up and as much as I hate it, that's part of the GM's job. I think they will tinker a little bit look for some small moves and pretty much throw out the same lineup and hope it plays better. Maybe they buy further but they will be a little gun shy.

  16. Even back in the White Jays article, the A's were the 2nd whitest team in the majors. I think that was 2003. It led Griffin to write that the Jays and A's target college players who are very patient and both teams ignore the running game (which he drew almost as much heat as Geoff Baker for his assessment).
  17. When Peter Angelos reads Digi, he's going to pull the $20M he just gave to the U. of Baltimore.
  18. Since when do fans on this board love good teams? I will like the A's more when they finally move to San Jose, I really don't like the City of Oakland. It's not a level of Philly hatred but still not one I like. Stems from the Raiders for me I think
  19. In case you aren't watching it, the Rangers are inducting Pudge into their hall of fame. So great to see all those runners thrown out in the highlight reel.
  20. Standing Mo from Fenway fans...never thought I'd see it.
  21. Not sure where the A's love is coming from. Chris Stewart just went into the crowd to catch a foul ball and then turned around and threw a strike to double off Nava tagging from first.
  22. Expos Day in the dome ended the way it should have with the team with payroll restraints winning
