  1. Appreciate it. I will be compliant from this point moving forward. And for everyone Shane Pinto is a Centre who cannot pass...those guys are destined have an upside of a Brock Nelson Fantasy career. I was picking him up just for my Senator boner.
  2. Spanky's books are mostly just magazines from the 70's. Making fun of the judge who is about to make a decision on you is probably not the brightest move now that I think about it. Although it worked on Night Court
  3. And how do you pick out the next Cole's/Kershaw's/Scherzer's of the world?
  4. I just did pick up Pinto. I hope that wasn't a no no. I'm treating this as a full Dynasty now and as long as they have played an NHL game they are fair game. If I shouldn't have picked up Pinto just drop him and I'll lose Chiarot as a penalty
  5. I'd give Vlad the Tatis contract and still trade for Tatis.
  6. Frasier is hitting closer to his projected wRC+ than the 135 wRC+ he had at the time of the trade. Overall Preller has put no one on his team in a place to succeed because he has zero options behind them...or he has no clue how to make his players more successful. Hosmer sitting against pitchers that can beat him with Sinker's or LHP on the mound would have probably brought some value from him. The only option in the entire organization that can play in the majors and play 1B are Wil Myers and Jake (they were needed elsewhere, although playing Jake at 1B and Kim at 2B would have probably netted similar results as playing Hosmer everyday). The options for depth in the OF were Jorge Mateo, Brian O'Grady and Tupacita Marcano. They were actually lucky to get a mostly full season out of Tommy Pham. If the pitching injuries were the reason that they were losing games I'd be like "tough luck". For the most part they have managed their way through that though. Even if they say goodbye to every free agent and pick up none of the options they have for next year (Profar, Stammen, Melancon, Johnson and Marisnick)...they still have 41 players on the 40 man and $142M committed. They are at 2015 Blue Jays stage where this off season they may as well move the remaining young assets and try and piece it together.
  7. Shane Baz time tonight.
  8. 1250 PA's to Caratini, Hosmer and Profar to provide -1.0 fWAR. 21.7% of your plate appearances to players which provide you zero value, you just can't do that in the NL where pitchers gave them another 260 PA's. Only 22 players had negative fWAR with over 300 PA's and the Padres had three of them. No one should keep their jobs there
  9. Show us the numbers that say he's hindered success. Make it measurable. Cause we know this F.O. follows numbers. And if you are going to use Expected W/L, keep in mind the Jays won 10% more games than their expected W/L the year before.
  10. Lets say Vladdy or Bo say "I'll sign an extension if you extend Charlie". How quickly do you extend him? We know so little about the inner workings of a baseball organization. And lets face it, almost no playoff manager gets fired, so no one should want him fired.
  11. Cash when hired knew nearly nothing about advanced stats. He was the candidate most open to learning. When the Rays moved someone from the front office to the bench, they didn't focus on teaching the numbers and making sure the decisions were being made by the numbers, they were focusing on buy-in (the biggest holdout Snell, was traded last year) If the Jays see in game decisions being a 1% plus or minus from the perfect analytical decision to the worst...but believe that buy-in for a system or a certain preparation is worth more than that, and believe Charlie is the guy to get an organization to buy-in on something that they didn't learn growing up, he will remain their guy. The players are fans...we are taught that baseball has to be a certain way and that is how you build a winning team. It's time we all open our eyes and buy-in. I have Olerud coming over...anyone else! Extend Charlie!
  12. I have a list of demands to return. 1. Cats Ass has to change his name to Cats-Purry Cat-Ka-Niemi. That is all. I'll be back and inactive as ever.
  13. I think that a manager's in game decisions make little difference in a season. If the team is happy with Charley it probably has more impact than him throwing darts to make decisions.
  14. As much as I love prospect content BA doing an updated list now just so that they can be the first to put Anthony Volpe into the top 25 (something I did back in April, taking him number 1 in my NPD in June) is just somehow wrong. But he'll be number 1 soon.
  15. it's almost as if you shouldn't trade all your depth for small upgrades to make you still not be the best team in your division

And Spanky's only boner of 2021 got ruined.
  17. I guess I should change my signature. RIP Weams! f*** Cancer!
  18. Terminator is still in Olympic mode where a bronze medal is a win. Still funny that the majority of fans want what will be a 2 time finalist fired.
  19. I just feel like the key to the Jays making the playoffs will be winning 3 or more games more than 3 of Boston, NYY, Oakland and Seattle. If we can do that I would say we are a playoff team.
  20. There is some Eovaldi in there too. Coming off a bad season into an above average one in the eve of his free agency. Eovaldi got 4 years $68M
  21. He turns 30 on the last day of the regular season. Which is 2 months younger than Price was and 3 years older than Sale was, when they signed their deals. Corbin got 6 years at 29. Ryu was 32 when he signed his 4 year deal. Strasburg was 31 when he signed for 7 years. I think Ray seeks and can get 5 years.
  22. He is (somewhat unfairly) getting the DH negative defensive value. As a hitter alone playing RF every day I think his fWAR would be at least a full win higher. As a pitcher he's a part-timer pretty much. He's been closer to Pablo Lopez than he's been to Corbin Burnes. He's also done it taking up just 1 roster spot, should that be factored in to MVP? It's certainly valuable.
  23. This site is very good at just looking at runs scored and when teams are doing it. If you click more stats and "other" you will see some options. The full season pitcher for the Jays doesn't show the late inning pitching as the biggest issue. The lack of a true set up guy would likely be the biggest issue as the 8th is the only inning we are in the bottom half of the rankings. https://www.teamrankings.com/mlb/stat/opponent-last-3-innings-runs-per-game
  24. Grichuk for his career is considerably better against "finesse pitchers" than "power pitchers" (as are most batters though) All of these samples are small but Kirk is just 28 PA's where he just just 1 XBH on 7 hits. Also this doesn't necessarily always mean they are going to see high velocity fastballs from a "power pitcher".
  25. It's obvious. They have 3 really good fastball hitters, 2 average ones and the rest are horrible against top velocity. Once they see the pen they are at a disadvantage. This year vs. Power pitchers Team .645 OPS in 1100 plate appearances Springer .511 OPS (really small SS, for his career he is one of the best against power pitchers) Semien .789 OPS Bichette .659 OPS Vladdy .892 OPS Teo .716 OPS Lourdes .506 OPS Grichuck .615 OPS Biggio .552 OPS By Comp Boston .682, NYY .711, TB .739 https://www.baseball-reference.com/tools/split_stats_team.cgi?full=1&params=power%7Cvs.%20Power%7CTOR%7C2021%7Cbat%7CAB%7C
