Purely gut feel. I don't think he wants to stay (even his Toronto based Girlfriend is ready for LA...where she will get a cooking show for food no one ever eats) and the team will take the PR hit on this one to save JD's name and allow him to get a potential multi year.

I don't think you got my comment though. Whether he's on 2nd or 3rd he's still "on base". He had a 3.5% better chance of scoring (and his run still leaves them down 3). You've got to be really close to 100% on that steal for it to have positive value -
Many many differences. I do believe that language matters, and people should be held accountable for things they say and write. However, I don't believe in punishment the way Law does, and I certainly don't believe in online mob attacks. I think change is possible and that is the best outcomes of most situations. Daniel Murphy is a prime example of this. After his 2015 comments he and his wife contacted Billy Bean and now Murphy and Bean have a friendship (according to Bean anyway which I admit might be a PR thing...but a PR thing is still positive). If I were like Law I would have called out all the minor prospects who I (much credit to another person who started the research) found had wrote racial or homophobic things on Twitter. Instead I went to their teams to deal with them. In that case they might not learn, but I can hope that they do...without having to go through the public lynching. I guess that is the difference, I like to believe that people can be educated.

Law at it again. I like the move for the Cubs. They have a s*** ton of power from the left side now. Hardly any lefty killers making the playoffs in the NL (Dodgers have Stripling and Kershaw, Phillies have Nola and Pivetta but aren't making the playoffs, DBacks are pretty good against Lefties)

All those Jays fans who said they wanted Lerner (or an individual willing to take a loss to get a ring) as an owner...take note. No matter how much an owner throws at a team, they should never have any say. At least Rogers stays out after they give the budget

121 wRC+ (1.5 fWAR) since May 1st. If they feel there was a fundamental change which could carry forward to next year I'd say just keep him around. No big deal if you dump him though. I just hope that Rowdy is in Buffalo or some other org. -

Baseball related - I don't mind Jim's suggestion of discussing rotation options for the Jays moving forward. Maybe an overall baseball rather than Jays. What would you do differently to bring youth/casuals to loving the game but Jays specific what would you do to the Rogers Centre. Non baseball - Before the podcast takes off with non board people...how about discuss some of the board personalities (or just the multiple personalities of one). Pull no punches.

Essentially they got JD 2.0 in Matt Chapman and Lowrie at 35 has become what they hope Laurie would be after the JD trade. Then Blake Treinen is putting up what might end up being the second best relief season in last 20 years. It's a lot more lightning in the bottle but it helps that A's teams seldom give too many PA's to negative WAR players. Jays actually had a pretty good year with that too. Only Solarte has significant PAs and a negative. Morales a lot to be at replacement level but almost all of us would have cut him loose in May (or earlier) and missed out on the small recovery he had.
