    From friends that attended the Vegas meetings. AA has bought in 100% on advanced analytics and has the biggest budget of any team set aside to bring in the best people. He took the Harvard Analytics course himself while working with the Dodgers. He obviously is getting over his fear of people smarter than him by making himself smarter.

    I really believe it is this male fan hatred for Stroman is partially what sparks the rumours IMO. He is such a polarizing guy that Jays fans click on everything that has his name. Steve Simmons (who was up to it again today by saying that Stroman is not wanted in the clubhouse as the team rebuilds) only reports about the Jays when it's about Stroman it seems.

    I do think using more pitchers is bad for baseball, but the direction it is heading in and probably is too late to stop. I think the fact that a team is using one at the start of the game is just semantics and odd to argue over. Tradition and fantasy are actually two of the biggest arguments against it (not making fun of Boxy here, this was a legit concern against it on other sites and by an old GM on MLB radio). What surprises me is that it this appears to be effective, and there are many here that never say a peep when a pitcher is pulled before the 3rd time through, that are opposing the opener. So it surprises me that many forward thinking people here that are against it. Is it bad for baseball? Absolutely, it brings in zero fans. It confuses casuals, it pisses off traditionalists and likely lengthens the game. But it's innovative and people here should respect the f*** out of it.

    That's the part I don't get. The Opener is just a reliever used in a way where you know who they will be facing.

    So f***ing much wrong with this post. Beyond using rape to describe a trade ( there are several here that report every time it happens), misspelling Beane to Bean (Billy Bean), and talking about dildo in his ass is just brutal.

    Current need. Rays method of handling their staff they need all of their arms. They must have felt that Burke couldn't contribute this year. In the end it's a reliever for a likely reliever trade and Rays OF defense and it's 60 DRS should let Pagan thrive when he keeps it in the park.

    I forgot to mention that one about the podcast. I agree with you that we have to stop giving Shapiro credit for baseball moves. Ban the Shatkins!

    Shapiro's biggest project now is making the Rogers Centre something other than a hunk of concrete. Rogers isn't sending him anywhere right now
