  1. After my decision to throw my team in and “go for it” in the dispersal draft. I knew this was going to have to be a strategic waiver draft, and make sure this decision doesn’t blow up in my face. I’m not very good at this fantasy baseball thing and pick with my heart far too often. So this year I decided to create a risk/needs analysis that I based off of the model I use at work. I was expecting to see SP, SP, SP move to the top of my list. But it turns out nothing I can pick up will improve this abomination (no offense Abom) of a starting staff. Getting Castillo was actually number one in the analysis (even over Kikuchi). I think Dingers best year ever was just 7 losses between Saves and Holds…I think I can get to that kind of number this year (depending on who ends up closing in a couple situations). Moran I will admit was outside of the analysis and just some protection for Turner. I was surprised by the results of this next pick. Looks like I missed something in the analysis. Going to have to make a few adjustments before I make my pick.
  2. I am trading waiver 15 and 75 for 21 and 65. TheBadGuy to confirm. Also to confirm for the new guys. If you select a prospect in this draft they cannot be added to your MiLB roster. Waiver or FA assets added must remain MLB assets. In the same way if you promote an MiLB asset they can't be moved back down.
  3. I will select Colin Moran (who went 3rd last year) and Diego Castillo (who I can't believe is available...you people must have good teams to not protect some of these guys)
  4. Speedy will not be able to pick until late tonight
  5. hopefully managers are adding their players in Yahoo as well to avoid this issue.
  6. Honestly a top 50 starter is great at this point. He's better than more than one of my keepers...even if he's traditionally a guy that goes into the 3rd round in these waiver drafts.
  7. Interesting that I looked at the catchers this morning and said "I should have traded Sal P". I guess I didn't get trade value out of it but at least I know what catchers are available.
  8. for the first time ever the posted the top 30's online. I wonder if the handbook is on it's way out.
  9. The draft was always confusing prior to 1987. I remember asking CFL legend Damon Allen how he was eligible to be drafted 4 times, despite not getting drafted out of high school. His answer was no clue (He was a January draftee in 1986...and then a June draftee too).
  10. Unless you see saving over $100M as working out. The following moves for the Marlins were mostly terrible (getting Deitrich for Yunel being a bit of a wash). They move Disco for the Corpse of Mat Latos. Marisnick for Moran. Henderson Alvarez got Cy Young votes and was by far the best player in the deal before his injury. Hech became a legit top of the game defender finally and then the Marlins trade him for Braxton Lee. I think it was June of 2014 when the Marlins surpassed the Jays in actual WAR (not value) from the deal. That is a deal working out...the Marlins just didn't have the right people to follow it up.
  11. It's been said (by me a lot) they are never going to be good PR GM's. But they have been really honest and open about the process (until the Vlad thing which they can't be honest an open about or they will be facing an easy lawsuit). Fans in general don't listen to Atkins or Shapiro when they speak (and Toronto local media barely cover it when they are on MLB Network). They have cleared the cupboards bare now (pretty much) and get to change the culture within the organization. They needed buy-in on their systems and that takes time to build. To me, this is the point where you judge Atkins from. What he does from this point on will shape this franchise and the true fans opinions of them. The rebuild isn't complete...it's barely started.
  12. I think much like the Braves last year, the contention came a year earlier than they expected for the Cubs.
  13. Quick question for those of us that kept more than 20 MLB players. Can I move a player to the NA spot (or DL if teams start to move players to the DL while our draft is still going on) and use all of my waiver picks.
  14. and MrAllDay is young enough to be those guys sons (but I don't believe he is)
  15. Ah Nick W. Welcome aboard. It's a Roundtable takeover
  16. Who is Mr. All Day. What happened to Jimmy?

  20. I am on the road for a bit tomorrow morning. I am good with our deal
  21. Harper does remind me of a guy that would love to miss Spring Training. He might drag things out for weeks still
