With the 28th pick in the 2014 First-Year Player Draft, the Kansas City Royals select Scott Blewett, a right-handed pitcher from Baker HS, Baldwinsville, New York. http://media.syracuse.com/post-standard/photo/2014/04/14665796-standard.jpg Our scouts love Scott's size and arsenal and we think he has an elite upside for a pitcher. We've had him up to 94 this spring with the fastball and the breaking ball -- a sharp 12-6 -- looks like a knockout offering as well. The changeup has rounded into shape as he's progressed. Scott is 6'6 and has a big frame; we expect this to allow his pitches to mature even further, he's what you'd call projectable. The arm action is very clean. We've very excited to get Scott into our system and working with our minor league coaches. He's going to be a big part of what we're doing going forward.

Pretty much every breaking ball falls somewhere between a pure curveball (12-6) and a pure slider. It's a continuum. The distinction isn't important in describing what a guy throws. This pitch Stroman used today was a hard breaking ball with both horizontal and vertical movement.

What makes you say that? Shields has a decent career GB% of 44.7% and is at 46.6% this year. I would love to have him, he may be my favourite pitcher to watch. An absolute horse who knows how to pitch. -
He is, Olerud's pretty smart. The comment "Take last nights game. Reyes tripled leading off thus padding his OPS but no runs were scored" is obviously sarcastic. Also, Joe Carter is the go-to "be sarcastic about RBIs" example.
