  1. Nobody thinks Gywnn is one of the inner circle baseball players in terms of total value added to his teams. What Gwynn did have is perhaps the best bat-to-ball ability of all time. And that should be celebrated.
  2. FelineFriendly and TheBoneCollector, even if you guys are new posters, all you've done since signing up is spam the GDTs with negativity. Not exactly adding content to the board. I'm down to censor posters like you even if you aren't personally insulting others. After lurking for a year-plus, what finally pushed you into creating an account was the ability to curse at players and umpires in GDTs? I don't get it.
  3. This is so sad Tony Gwynn was a great baseball man. I didn't even know he was unwell.
  4. It's a testament to their sustainability. Very good to see.
  5. Yep: "Only unowned players who have never played an MLB game and who belong to an MLB parent team are eligible to be drafted." I don't know much about Imhof to be honest. What do you think of my draft, GD?
  6. Bottom of Yankees, Blue Jays rotations: Happ > Nuno, Stroman > Whitley, Dickey > Phelps. I don't understand why all the baseball commentators say our pitching will be our downfall. Look at what our competition in running out there. Even less.
  7. Yeah I like them to be ambiguous. This one was obviously sarcastic though. Great sequence from CJ.
  8. Koufax, Drysdale, Osteen.
  9. Stop the negativity. We're in first place and are beating one of the teams in second place. Go Jays!
  10. Daniel Norris basically can't get any awesomer. I can't get enough of him.
  11. From various articles... "“I’m not really sure why I do it, to be honest,” said Norris, who’s been camping out in Dunedin since Jan. 25, weeks before minor league camp is set to begin. “Travelling alone and living on the road can be tough sometimes, but learning to answer my own questions can be very rewarding. I desire the journey, the adventure, and well, the surf.” He likes living simply, staying faithful to his roots. Road trips with Shaggy are part of that. “It was a really cool experience for me, learning how to be self-sustainable,” he says. “That’s just kind of how my mom and dad raised me: learn to live on what you truly need and not really anything more.” --------------------------------------------------------------------------- He doesn't always live in it during the season since the team buses around together and they get some accommodations, but other than that he lives in his van.
  12. The distribution of production doesn't matter. You can get in trouble slicing it up like that. The entire sample says he's a league-average bat or better.
  13. You can sort all minor leaguers on Fangraphs: http://www.fangraphs.com/minorleaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=pit&lg=all&qual=50&type=1&season=2014&team=0&players=0&sort=16,a Doesn't include MLBers, but you can reference that separately (Felix is second to Norris among all pitchers, 1.96 to 1.78).
  14. Best FIP in associated baseball! Daniel Norris is the man.
  15. Two of the three previous uses of 'hounding' on this board were from Metallijay: Give it up already!
  16. Keith Law said they like how Randy St Claire works with young starters. That's all it is. In any event, how exactly would promoting him to AAA affect his trade value? I'm confused. We could probably get Brandon McCarthy on the cheap. So he's who I would go after.
  17. Lemont won the 3A State Championship, yep. Illinois Lutheran won the 1A. Lemont walked off in dramatic fashion. Neither team scored until the 7th; they was down 1-0 going into the inning, with Griffin ace Ben McElwee still on the mound. Then lineout, groundout, single, E4, wild pitch, walk... walk-off two-run single by Ryan Folliard. Wow. Latz had a CGSO with 11 K, 3 BB, 105 pitches. On the season he had 103 K, 9 BB in 55.1 IP (two ER lol). http://www.mysuburbanlife.com/_internal/cimg!0/6ngcafimj0c8vhupsf4ynvk7gqvxtvr
  18. Can you give some guidance on what to post in GDTs? They've devolved into a total shitshow. Old board/OriolesHangout kind of stuff.
  19. Here's a prozac reference from Metallijay... it's him. Let's get a banning, please.
  20. These aren't fans. Fans actually like watching the games and following the team. Merriam-Webster says a fan is "an enthusiastic devotee (as of a sport or a performing art) usually as a spectator." Synonyms are addict, aficionado (also afficionado), buff, bug, devotee, enthusiast, fanatic, fancier, fiend, fool, freak, habitué (also habitue), head, hound, junkie. That doesn't describe these people. I don't know how to characterize them.
  21. Santos is our best reliever and should be immediately inserted into the closer role. Case closed.
  22. Okay well I'm still here! lol Edit: I took Austin Wilson.
  23. I picked. Will be going to bed very soon so won't be able to make my next pick until the morning.
