I'd imagine that if Wiggins goes to Minnesota he'll be more likely to eventually sign with Toronto as a free agent. Not sure how I think about it overall though.

Do they also account for the pitcher's ability to shut down the running game? Johnny Cueto in particular is fantastic at doing so, probably one of the reasons he tends to outperform FIP. -
I like what CatsAss was able to do here. Rendon is well worth the drop-off from Darvish to Gio. I've always liked Gio a lot; he gets overshadowed because he's not the best pitcher on his team and his production profile is unconventional for a top starter. Lawrie isn't the class of the other four players changing hands. I honestly see him as more of a piece made expendable from acquiring Rendon than as a player "swapped" for Rendon with the SP upgrade in mind.

Yep obviously a very great career. But Pujols stands to make $113M after Howard's deal runs out! That's a crazy sum of money and there's a decent chance he's as useless as Howard for some of those years.

Has anyone done a study on this? I'm curious to know. I've always rejected the "an arm only has so many bullets" hypothesis. It's made up of muscles, not gun parts.

I think the price will be very high and I probably wouldn't pay it. But I don't think acquiring Price impacts their ability to acquire an infield upgrade, since I don't think the "impact everyday player" is on the market. We're likely looking at a Prado/Headley type that wouldn't cost much in terms of prospects. Same with a bullpen arm. We'd likely just have to eat the salary and toss in a C prospect.

What does priority mean though? AA has enough hours in the day to make and take calls on both pitching and the middle infield. I wouldn't worry about which is a greater hole. What matters is the magnitude of the upgrade. Price would be an upgrade of great magnitude.

Why can't they do both? Also, there aren't any middle infielders on the market who are as good as Price so I don't understand your argument.

Derek Jeter has never had a season close to any of Trout's three seasons (if you prorate this one). I have no idea how such a comparison would even work. Trout is almost at half of Jeter's career production. This is an insult to Trout. Trout can "possibly be the next Babe Ruth." Or maybe better. He's the best player through his age in history, there may be no career comparables when it's all said and done. Exciting!
