  1. Who are all the guys you think will go underslot, and for how much? THat'd get us a good barometer of how much room we have. The average of DeJong/Gonzales was 805k, which would give us an extra 200k or so. If we could get Tellez AND Brentz I'd be thrilled. Any way you can shorten it?
  2. I would think so.
  3. I'm not one for rankings lol, but based on some red flags from Norris and Smoral coming off an injury (broken foot I think) that kept him out last year, I decided to rank them all conservatively. I ranked Tirado as he's ranked before his season. And I think in terms of ceiling Alford > Lopes.
  4. I disagree.
  5. Realized Stroman was eligible again (I think suspensions make you ineligible), made an edit, and don't think Nay is top 15, more like 16-20.
  6. The fact that Bickford can control his FB does ease some of my pain. If we get all these guys signed (obviously not happening but for teh lulz), what does our top 15 look like? 1.) Sanchez 2.) Osuna 3.) Bickford 4.) Davis 5.) Tellez 6.) Nolin 7.) Brentz 8.) Stroman 9.) Smoral 10.) Norris 11.) Alford 12.) Hollon 13.) Jimenez 14.) Barreto 15.) Tirado I'd guess something like that. LOTS of question marks but a lot of high ceiling guys.
  7. My personal signing priorities: 1.) Brentz 2.) Tellez 3.) Bickford 4.) Tewes 5.) Hollon 6.) Lauer 7.) Boyd 8.) Greene 9.) Murphy 10.) Smith 11.) Jansen 12.) Hurley 13.) Kalfus The rest, I don't really care, just keep it below slot.
  8. We made up for our s***** early picks by taking some quality guys at the back end of the draft. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/draft/y2013/drafttracker.jsp#ft=team&fv=tor
  9. Well he obviously isn't a .420+ wOBA bat anymore, but his wOBA is rising again after another slow start this year, so I'd say he's a fairly dangerous ~.380-.390 wOBA bat with decent power going forward. The whole Walktista thing is a very valuable skill for when he declines. Old player skills ftw lol.
  10. Wow, I'm shocked, that's so uncommon for Kirk.
  11. You can't depend/factor in luck to any teams' projections, much less this team's.
  12. Yeah, but I think it was reasonable to assume that we'd have a stretch of ~.600 ball or so. Obviously not 100 games long, but still.People were pretty stupid in their expectations but this seemed like a good team.
  13. That's what I've been doing, haven't really been thinking about playoffs. Hope we sweep, it'd be a great statement.
  14. If there's an optimistic view I'm taking, it's this one. Makes it seem like we do have a chance haha.
  15. I think that's fair and I agree that I don't think that AA will do the necessary moves to make this team a contender. But I don't think we're too far away.
  16. Agreed but hey, he'd be a decent piece. Agreed. Tewes would be a nice bonus but those 4 should be priority. Who do you like more, Brentz or Tellez? I like Brentz but I think it's more important to get Tellez signed... I really want them both though haha. Edit: I'm not going over slot on Bickford, though, there isn't a chance. If he wants some cash, punt the pick and get it back at #10 again next year. (We'd be at 10 because Pittsburgh prevented us from being #9 this year, which is KEY because the top 10 picks are FA-protected.)
  17. They aren't elite by any means, but I don't think they're *bad.* I would venture to say that the biggest problem is our rotation depth, but that'll improve next year as youngins fill in. Stroman, Nolin, Hutch, all back. Drabek, even. Maybe Sanchez, depending on his development. That's some solid depth imo. We do need some more pieces, namely an upgrade at C, but I think we should be somewhat competitive next year. Edit: If Jimenez develops at C quicker than expected, that's another solid piece.
  18. I agree with literally all of this. If we can upgrade catcher, get rid of Maicer, and get a lot of depth guys signed (which we'll have a LOT more of next year - Stroman, Hutch, Drabek, Sanchez, Nolin, etc), I see no reason that we wouldn't be a very good team next year. I don't honestly believe that our true talent level is how we played at the beginning of the year. We just dug ourselves a deep hole. It happens. I don't trust AA to make the necessary moves, though.
  19. Full credit to Dude, whom I stole this from. I love it. FTFY
  20. Trying to stream the Marlins/Mets game, what's happening? Is it over? Just says not available on VIPBox.
  21. I don't know for sure, but if Francisco Liriano is any indication, no lol.
  22. Griffin Murphy is as good at pitching as he is growing mustaches - pretty f***ing good. He won't be ready for at least a couple years, but he's really good, and not a lot of people realize just how good.
  23. Cap'n reactionary is back to say HOLY s***! Tellez, Brentz, AND Tewes? Along with Jansen whom I kinda like? Seriously, this last day was kinda f***ing amazing. Full credit to Brian Parker and co. I disagree with his drafting philosophy and such (strongly so) but holy s***, great last day. *and Tewes Those are some pretty f***in' noteworthy picks haha. No thanks. Brentz > Tellez > Tewes > Lauer.
  24. With Mitch Moreland and Lance Berkman and Chris McGuinuiss (sp?) and Mike Olt and Ian Kinsler to an extent and AJ Pierzynski and holy f***, why can't we have Daniels as a GM?
