The only thing we're arguing is that Goins should be in no way allowed to start. On a 25 man? Sure. Absolutely. I'd take him as my 25th man. It's just the whole starting thing.

I don't agree with this argument Thames needed to hit a ton because he couldn't do anything else. The argument for Goins is that he can do everything else well enough to marginally hit. Like if Goins put up Thames' 96 wRC+, there's a decent chance he'd be a legitimate asset.

Goins wRC+/Lg q2B wRC+/Diff 2009 A-: 114/100/14 2010 A: 122/98/24 2011 A+: 109/101/8 2012: AA: 105/93/12 2013: AAA: 90/92/-2 Lg q2B is that league's qualified 2nd basemen. Goins was good a few years ago in the lower levels and has since slipped. Goins has been, on average, 11% better than the league offense, but most of that came in 2010 and 2011. This isn't really meant to support or condemn Goins, I just wanted to do this to provide more context and information for and against this argument.
