  1. If I get a paypal set up I'll donate for sure.
  2. Rasmus, 5th inning, high up the right field foul pole. Well, foul net. God RC is weird.
  3. Why settle when I could reach for the stars and be working in Wendy's instead?
  4. f***. That's really, really s*****. I didn't always agree with his opinions but he was sure as s*** a really, really good guy. If this is true, RIP Kirk.
  5. Protip: Bragging about degrees on this board is going to make people dislike you really really quickly because of another member who did that.
  6. We're all frustrated. I'm of the opinion that we're a very average team, probably around 81 wins, and not very good on a huge payroll. I'm on your side here in the bigger picture, it's just that I strongly disagree with some of this. You f***ed up your quote If I didn't have statistics I would reconsider my stance to reflect the best available information I had, which I think you're implying would be the eye test in that case. I feel that that would likely result in my liking of Rasmus in CF quite a lot as I do like how he looks out there regardless of the stats. He makes some catches that make me go wow.
  7. Question: Do you actually know what my stance on this team is? I simply disagree that the eye test is superior in this case. I feel like we could have a much better argument in a different situation in which I was less tired so I'll agree to disagree.
  8. Then why don't you just get hired in a front office if it's so easy
  9. Perfect, since he didn't answer, I can get my point across. The data is unreliable year to year is the main knock on them. We can ignore the defensive positioning cause the Jays don't really do that with Gump. My point is that in the moment, it's probably the most accurate representation of defense we have, and much better than Jonn's eye test. I wonder what the year-year correlation of DRS is.
  10. I know that this is a cool life lesson and all, but baseball really doesn't apply to this.
  11. Assuming the score of this game doesn't change: RS^2/(RS^2+RA^2) = W% Pytho W% = .254 Pytho W/L = 1.3-3.7 Rounded = 1-4 Real W/L = 2-3 Team BABIP = .333 League BABIP = .284 Team FDP wins = -0.5 So what do all of these numbers mean? That the team itself hasn't been getting unlucky, and have played to expectations, but the pitchers themselves have been getting unlucky.
  12. But then why trust anything? You surely trust something if you're so adamant about Colby being in LF, but if you're not going to accept that no stat or viewpoint is absolutely 100% perfect, then why even bother? No stat is perfect. No eye test is perfect. We go with the best we've got and DRS/UZR >>> eye test.
  13. The IQ these posts would suggest is probably around Goins' projected wRC+ I'm out lol
  14. Great strawman. It's apparent that you only see others knock defensive metrics and then knock them because itz cool. The only problem for them is what I'll call the Moogy-WAR conundrum. They're not predictive. That's what everyone hates about them. In terms of accuracy they're absolutely the best we've got and much better than "dur average CF."
  15. What the holy hell does this in any way have to do with what I said in response to you
  16. He was a +11.2 UZR centerfielder last year like he had 14.6 Range runs That's not average That's very very above average
  17. Okay Harvey Specter that's all well and good but you do realize that this is baseball, right? The sport where anything can happen? Of course the Astros can beat the Yankees and of course we can lose to them. Anything can happen game-to-game in baseball.
