I think they were saving money for another opportunity and didn't want to spend their budget early in the offseason. Wouldn't have to be the Pirates, though. Maybe SF, maybe OAK pulls more money out their ass like they did with JJ, SD, LAD, MIN, etc.I'm sure /someone/ would take him. If the cost of a win is 7.5m then he's not really overpaid.

He's been worth his AAV since he got here. A team like the Pirates would pick him up, make him look ridiculous with their GB defense, shifts and long OF walls and NL lineups, and then either have a pretty great pitcher or sell him off for like 7 top 10 prospects.

Yes. 178.1 IP is still a very respectable amount and he amassed way more value per inning than anyone else except, like, Anibal. Took Waino, Scherzer and Kersh way longer to amass more value.
