It's one thing to give a guy a chance in a big spot to build his confidence but your team has been scuffling. Protecting a one run lead is NOT the way to do this.

Off-topic, but are the post-season mega threads archived anywhere on this site? There are so many nonsense threads still here but I don't see the WS Game 7 thread anymore, as an example. Sorry to ask if this is obvious, lol :p

Both the excitement and pain will fade with time. Each time I see an MLB post online or a YouTube thumbnail I still get a twinge of sadness and regret in my chest. It's still too fresh right now. Give it a few weeks and our attention will shift to other things and it will get easier. I just hope every time I see the AL Champions banner at the dome that it only brings back the 99.99% good memories and feelings I had this season.

Very true. One play away from winning v.s losing is as razor-thin a margin as you can get. AND we had so many wasted opportunities. I don't think the moment was too big for most of the players, so just ran out of luck at the worst time.

It feels like the IKF play isn't getting much traction now but it feels like he will wind up getting the majority of the blame in the near future. He's not likely coming back (I hope) so it could be good that the remaining guys on the team don't have to worry about the fanbase being upset with them long-term. I feel like we will obtain a good closer for next year and Hoffman will be a setup guy. He sounded humble after the loss so I doubt he pushes back too much on that idea for next year.

I 100% see your point. I really just don't want to distill what I feel about this whole run down to one guy/one play and pin everything on him. Hoffman 100% could've gotten ahead of the number 9 hitter and not given up a backbreaker. Imagine the poetic nature of making Ohtani be the last out. That would've been right out of a movie and you'd figure something the baseball gods should've liked!!

It sounds ridiculous, but silver lining is that there were so many other small/big things that happened/didn't happen in addition to this play that it can't be singled out ala Buckner, etc. I'm more annoyed with Barger yesterday TBH and Varsho's inability to put a good swing on a ball at any point in the past two games. I'm sure IKF is beating himself up pretty badly cause that one play you could draw a direct correlation to an outcome.

It's just so hard for all the magical things to come together. - Essentially winning out to secure the division in the last week of the season to skip the wildcard round. - Taking the Yankees to task in what (at times) were close games that could've swung either way. - Going down 0-2 to Seattle then miraculously winning 3 of the next 4 games (including 2 on the road and losing a heartbreaking 3rd road game with a bad bullpen move) to bring the series back home. - Forcing a game 7 and then a true UNC moment from Springer to propel us to the finals. - A totally unknown rookie coming out and absolutely shoving to bring us to the cusp. - Rattling the Dodgers' "Ace" in Snell and winning both of his starts to give us 2 chances to win at home. The reason this stings extra hard (and why I'm immersing myself in Jay's interviews and soundbites to grieve and mourn) is that the Dodgers' didn't need any of this to get there. They are expected to with their payroll and experience. This was our true shot at immortality with a true, heart and soul TEAM that felt built, rather than bought. Even if most of these players come back, there will be a different energy next year and there are no guarantees. As much as I think the Jays will likely make October noise again very soon, every other team is going to get better to match. I'll always love this year and how it brought us all together but damn it really feels like a missed opportunity. Hope most of us are here on the board next year to keep it lively and fun. It's been a pleasure going on this journey with all of you :)

This loss must feel equally bad as when the Rangers were a single strike from winning and wound up losing the game and series a while back. They finally got their lucky win and I really hope the Jays can recover some of this year's magic and win it next year.

In hindsight, you could see the panic in the eyes of the 2nd basemen as he stumbled with the ball because he knew the world series would be over. What a blunder by IKF :(

Baseball is such a cruel game. The more deserving team didn't win, the evil empire spent their way to another championship and pundits get to pretend they were right in forecasting a Dodgers win from the start. Lady luck and baseball are so fickle.

Honestly, it's cathartic. You're not alone, you're feeling the pain right along with your guys. It will help you to heal faster than burying your head in the sand but I understand if you find it too painful. People process trauma and disappointment and heartbreak in different ways. I'm just glad the players showed how much this means to them behind closed doors. Makes me like them even more and makes me want to support them even harder next year.

Have to disagree with you there. I want to hear from the guys we've lived and died with for this whole magical season and this magical run. The interviews are for our fan base to mourn along with our guys.

I feel like watching all the Jays players post-game is helping me emotionally deal with this. Not watching any other media coverage though; that would be too painful for me.

Yep, that IKF brain fart likely cost the team a ring. To be fair though, the 3rd base coach may have told him to stay close the bag to avoid a throw down to third to pick him off (or he may have been antsy having seen Barger get picked off in Game 6). Who knows. Still, based on how far away the fielder was, he could've been at least another couple feet up.

IKF should have had a longer lead from 3rd base on the force out. He also slowed down until he saw the fielder bobble the ball. Plus he should've run right through. That was the game right there.

I'm relieved for the stress to be over with, regardless of the outcome. Hopefully all of us board members will be together for another run next year. Shades of the 14/15 Royals.

I would take this every year over never having gotten to the show. Our guys wanted it more and had a much more special year than the Dodgers but the magic ran out a couple innings short. What a special season. This board has been so much fun to frequent over the last month. Have a great off-season everyone.

Well, essentially that's two games so far the Dodgers have won with a combination of bad plays by the Jays (managerial and/or player-made) coupled with terribly bad luck. Have to think with the resiliency of the team this year that they will find a way in game 7. Luck will be back on our side and I fully expect to not let the Dodgers take 3/4 games at Rogers Centre. Just need to keep the faith!

The season recap special I would purchase in a heartbeat. You have to support these guys and this franchise for all they've done this year. This 4th win will be the hardest one this season but this team has proven its resolve and resilience all year long. I'm genuinely more excited for this group of players than I am for the city or fans, though I'm also excited for each of us too. I want to support the idea of a winning team being more than just the sum of its parts. These guys deserve the adulation and recognition a championship brings. LFG!!!!!!!!!
