LANSING, Mich. - John La Prise lined a tie-breaking RBI single amid a stretch of four consecutive run-scoring hits in the bottom of the seventh inning, and the Lansing Lugnuts (22-22, 58-56) rallied for a 7-4 victory over the Fort Wayne TinCaps (18-26, 54-60) on Monday night at Cooley Law School Stadium.

The Lugnuts had opened their seven-game homestand with three straight losses to Bowling Green, closing their wild card playoff lead to just half a game over Great Lakes. That lead is now back to 3.5 games, thanks to wins in the first three games of this four-game series against Fort Wayne.

Lansing brought a 2-0 edge to the sixth inning behind starter Jordan Romano, but the TinCaps used an Austin Allen sacrifice fly and Carlos Belen two-run homer to vault into a 3-2 lead.

The 'Caps turned to lights-out reliever Elvin Liriano (Loss, 1-1), who boasted a .128 opponent batting average - but Lansing solved Liriano in the seventh. With one out, Jake Thomas walked, Ryan Metzler doubled, and Andrew Guillotte singled to left-center to tie the score. La Prise followed with a single up the middle for a 4-3 lead, though Guillotte was thrown out at home plate. Lane Thomas ripped a double down the left field line to bring in La Prise, and Juan Kelly lined a single to plate Thomas to cap the rally, pushing the Lugnuts in front, 6-3.

Guillotte drew a bases-loaded walk from reliever Aaron Cressley in the eighth to add one last bit of insurance for the Lugnuts.

Fort Wayne closed out the scoring on a run-scoring Rod Boykin double-play grounder in the ninth.

Starlyn Suriel (Win, 5-2) picked up the victory in relief of Romano, tossing 1 2/3 scoreless innings. Suriel was aided by a sparkling double play to end the top of the seventh, with right fielder Guillotte picking off a Peter Van Gansen liner and throwing out Alan Garcia at home plate.

Kirby Snead (Save, 1) recorded the final six outs for his first professional save.

Guillotte, La Prise, Atkinson and Ryan Hissey each notched two hits in the victory, with Hissey scoring the Lugnuts' first two runs.

Lansing looks for the series sweep at 12:05 p.m. Tuesday, sending All-Star left-hander Angel Perdomo (3-6, 3.23) against TinCaps lefty Thomas Dorminy (3-3, 3.06).
