Regarding the Fernandez compensation for havok, spittin and I have decided to follow the DDL's lead. The proposal is as follows:

- Havok can choose any two unowned players/prospects he wants.

- At least one of these players must already be signed by an MLB team, but the other need not be. So guys like Otani, Thames, Gourriel, and projected 2017 draftees are in play.

- Prospects owned by an MLB team will not count against his prospect limit until the 2017 MiLB draft cut down.

- If he chooses an unowned prospect he/she will count against his prospect limit at the first cut down after their signing.

- If either prospect is traded, they count against the other team's prospect limit immediately.

If havok, or anyone else has a serious grievance with this, please make it known ASAP. I'm thinking that havoc has until Sunday, October 9th to make his selections, unless he absolutely can not choose by then.

I like how when you say prospect you use he/she. Lol like he's going to be taking a woman with his selection...

I'm certainly not comfortable assuming that havok is a sexist who will ignore half the population.

Just a hunch, but I'm guessing it won't be the same two prospects that Hurl picks.

Maitan is owned here, right?

Correct, by me.

He's the obvious choice here in the DDL. I have no idea who else is worth considering for BORED.

There's an argument to be made for taking Seth Beer over Otani, but the way the rules are written, you can't take both. Beer looks like the next Kris Bryant to me.

Actually I was really bummed to hear of JF tragedy. But are the Marlins getting anything in real life? Why shouldn't I receive compensation for Fielder who I gave up assets for and will likely never play baseball again? Or any other player that has career ending injury. Shut happens. It's really awful about JF, genuinely, bit forgive me if I'm wrong but Marlins aren't going to be compensated

Short answer: because we do this for fun, not as a business, and it's easy and painless to go at least some of the way towards compensating someone who tragically loses a huge part of their team.

Prince Fielder didn't die and also he was worthless from a fantasy perspective at the time of his unfortunate early retirement.

Also, you didn't give up assets for Fielder. I drafted him, then dropped him after his retirement.

holy dumn

I might consider moving Chris Sale, but only for a similarly elite bat. It would obviously have to be a need for need kinda thing, although I'm not opposed to adding other pieces as appropriate.

I have up Gio and Kimbrel coming off of last season. My only horrific trade that comes to mind.

You don't own Chris Sale.

Fielder was body / getting old / baseball related type stuff. You don't compensate for that. If he hadn't had the physical issues and had gotten in a bad car accident that had ended his career, that might be different.

We'll compensate Cyborg in the BBDL as well for JF (not that he probably needs it), just as we did for P2F and Taveras. Given that this happened at the end of the season, whether that compensation happens for the 2017 draft or 2018, I don't know.
