Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Who the f*** thinks Bautista is going to be in the hall? I don't think that is a widely (or even semi-widely) held opinion here. We can all blame bendera3 for bringing up the sensitive subject.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Mcgriff and Bautista played in very different eras A large part of Mcgriff's era, everyone was hitting 30-40 homeruns, it wasn't anything special. Juiced Balls, Juiced Players Bautista has had 5 good years at the MLB level, he led the MLB in homeruns 2 years and for 2 he was leading the league in homeruns before he got hurt. If Bautista had 5 straight 50 Homerun seasons he would be first ballot. Not saying that Bautista has a chance, he doens't his career started too late. Mcgriff in his era wasn't that special, and not the same level of player as Bautista McGriff led the AL in HR in 1989 with 36. Did it again in the NL with 35 in 1992. By the time the Rockies came onto the scene in 1993, unofficially ending the "dead ball" era of the 80's, McGriff already compiled his best years and half of his total career WAR with 29, what Bautista has now.

I'm sure he'd sign with the Cards or White Sox in a heartbeat if they came calling during the offseason.
