o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Well of course, it's not like it would become some routine type of play for a defense to try, but it could still work occasionally. The point is, the rule change actually created a real potential problem that teams could exploit in the right scenario. I think it will result in a lot of outs being called safe. it's an extra judgement call for umps to make and we all know how well that goes.
walkoff93 Verified Member Posted April 15, 2014 Author Posted April 15, 2014 Shouldn't the ball have to hit the ground?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Shouldn't the ball have to hit the ground? Well it should be an out as long as you've gotten control of the ball. Like a reception in football. If you then fumble the ball later, or screw up on the throw, that's like a separate play. That's how it should be IMHO.

So now we have to get the definition of "control of the ball during the transfer"....this new rule is idiotic.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Here it is: LMFAO @ that retard Ron Washington getting ejected. The play was reviewed and call made by the rule book, you f***ing idiot.
Eragon Verified Member Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 LMFAO @ that retard Ron Washington getting ejected. The play was reviewed and call made by the rule book, you f***ing idiot. So? In the history of the game a manager has never reversed a call by arguing - but they do it anyway. Not to mention the call was stupid. Washington was right to argue, that's the only way change (in the game) will happen. Farrell did the same thing on the weekend.

Before a manager could argue with an ump on a bad or incorrect call and it was understandable. Here, Washington is arguing against an established rulebook, and yelling at the umpires who had no say in the final decision.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 That's the right call. Good job umps. Also, lol @ JP. He's leaving quite the first impression on his new team.

I'm actually starting to feel a little bit bad. He might be the worst player in baseball right now. Of players with more than 25 AB... JPA is 2nd worst OPS in baseball.... SSS obviously, but sounds about right.
baseballsss Verified Member Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 It's a giant step forward IMO, just some advancement and tweaking still needed. I'd prefer this than nothing at all. I'd prefer on the fly challenges though, for example if you approach the ump on a challengeable play, you have to challenge. This is true. I hate how umps calls reviews on their own though that one would be a little harder for them to figure out.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 I'm actually starting to feel a little bit bad. He might be the worse player in baseball right now. Don't feel bad. He's also the cockiest player in baseball. It's a closed system: there can only be 750 MLB players at any time. Whoever takes JP's place when he gets sent down/cut will be more deserving. And that's something to feel good about.
Eragon Verified Member Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 "I understand what the rule says," Washington said. "I don't agree with it." "Same as it was in Boston," Washington said. "The guy was out, I understand the rule. We have to do something about the rule."
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 He's calling ******** on the rulebook, and it seems pretty ******** to me. And you don't think that maybe voicing his opinions after the game would have been more effective? Whatever, dunno why you're so adamant about defending a dumbass like old Ron.

Yep, but when you add a s***** SSS on top of a s***** BSS (big sample size Eg. 2013 results), that SSS is just more of the same. He will be in AAA by June.
