jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 Other examples include: Tulowitzki (Rockies), multiple players on the Yankees, Votto (Reds), Mauer (Twins), Fielder/Choo(Rangers), and others.. Wasn't Tulo ranked on FanGraphs as having one of the top trade values still, even with his contract?
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 Soriano retired today - he'll always be measured up to that big contract he signed. He was still a solid player regardless.

Wow. Not a crazy ask in my opinion, I think some team could give it to him. I predicted five years in the contest.

NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Which contest? The annual free agent contest. There's a thread for it about a dozen spots down in the main forum. I don't want to link to it because people will whine. Thanks!
TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Rays announce their final 8 candidates for manager. Ibanez hasn't even retired from baseball. You think they want an inexperienced guy that's going to listen to the front office

LongTimeReader Verified Member Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 I feel like the Rays could be fubar w/o Maddon but I also feel like maybe he over-managed.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Wouldn't Dave Martinez be the ideal candidate? I'd definitely like to see Kevin Cash manage someday; I'm not sure about Raul Ibanez just yet haha

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 If they turned this into a reality show they could probably quadruple their annual earnings... Holy s***... I just realized Wakamatsu is on this, talk about dark horse.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 If they turned this into a reality show they could probably quadruple their annual earnings... I'm sure it's sitting in the "Rays ideas to be rejected" file at the MLB office.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Acta is into advanced stats, correct? More or less. I always talk to him. He loves the OBP, K and GB rates, but he's not very fond of wRC+ or xFIP
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 (edited) Martin to meet with four teams with the Jays being one of them! so far! Cubs have already had thier meeting! What do we need to offer Martin 4/ 17.5 ? What we thinking here? Or will we need a bigger hammer? Also question part 2 if we sign Martin do you trade navarro( Cubs) or keep him? Edited November 8, 2014 by BigBounceyBlueBalls
Sorrow Verified Member Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 You keep Martin and see if you can move Navarro (or use him as a back up) and move Dickey and Thole.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Also question part 2 if we sign Martin do you trade him ( Cubs) or keep him? Illegal and would also damage our organizational reputation considerably
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Acta is into advanced stats, correct? Yes, but keep in mind he's Domincan so we don't know exactly how high he can count.
