G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 18, 2013 Author Posted September 18, 2013 Dammit, didn't know this: Rogers is arbitration-eligible this winter and, like Redmond, will be out of options next spring
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 18, 2013 Author Posted September 18, 2013 We all hate and love the unknown ... Mixed feelings Tanaka is the guy, no matter what. Given that he won't cost any prospects or draft picks to acquire, I want them in on him for sure
Jays Verified Member Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Given that he won't cost any prospects or draft picks to acquire, the bluejays won't touch him ftfy:)
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 18, 2013 Author Posted September 18, 2013 ftfy:) Hahahaha, hopefully not true
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 18, 2013 Author Posted September 18, 2013 Makes them both trade candidates. How they will build this rotation will be interested. I would expect that since they tried the trade market last time and it didn't work out they may lean towards free agency. I hope that doesn't mean they overpay Ervin Santana though. Dickey I'm fine with long term I feel as though hes turned a corner. But MB got slaughtered by the AL East this year. Ditto on all counts They need to consolidate their assets Too many fringe starters, too many pitchers (starters and bullpen) with no options, and too many guys getting good $ and not pitching for the big league club due to injuries or poor performance. Something has to give
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 18, 2013 Author Posted September 18, 2013 I wish guys like Rogers, Drabek, Hutch, Lincoln and Jeffress had some trade value but I don't know if they do. I'm sure that Cecil, Santos and Jannsen do but we want to keep them The 40 man roster is getting too clogged up with pitchers that we don't necessarily want on the big league team. But you don't want to trade them for nothing (well, Romero I'd trade for nothing just to dump the salary but nobody wants him)

Something has to give Watch AA keep almost all of them. Remember the trade deadline. Our bullpen guys were at peak value and we had so many bullpen options, there was not enough room for everyone and everyone thought moves would be made and nothing happened. We even let Oliver retire here and get nothing for him instead of getting anything at all.

kgm1 Verified Member Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Not a lot of options out there . The jays just can't seem to overpay enough to get free Agent pitchers and rebound candidates aren't stupid enough to pitch in the AL East .The farm system has been gutted of trade bait and what is left would be suicidal to move . I really am down to hoping one of Morrow or Romero bounce back , Happless can be unloaded in a salary dump . One of Rogers or Redmond improve a lot and win a rotation spot and One of the young guys or rebound guys really step up . Ruiz is signed and takes charge of the pitching staff and suddenly our defense becomes better than average . I know , I have resigned myself to a hope and a prayer . I also started buying Lotto tickets
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 I think if AA can get one good starter this winter this team will have a rotation that can compete for a playoff spot. I'm hopeing for Garza or Tanaka because they won't cost anything except cash, everyone else would cost draft picks or prospects. That would give us Dickey, Garza, Morrow, Buehrle, Stroman/Hutch/Drabek/McGowan. One of those last 4 will surprise in spring training and force their way into the 5th spot. That will leave the other 3 plus Rogers, Romero and Nolin to fill in when Morrow goes down. I'd be willing to bet that 2 of Stroman/Hutch/Drabek emerge as above average starters for our rotation next year. Also... How sad is it that this year out of all the players that made starts for us, f***ing Chad Jenkins put up the lowest ERA out of everyone.
