eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 It's early but trading Vasquez and letting Lou walk look to be the right moves. Vasquez shooting 19% overall and 7.7% from 3. Lou is just chucking up everything as per usual. Would much prefer the defensive presence of Joseph over the flashier offensive games of those two.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 I really like JV's game so far. Still has his weaknesses but he seems like a force in the post.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Dont miss Grevious one bit, but I'd rather have Williams on this team over Ross.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Dont miss Grevious one bit, but I'd rather have Williams on this team over Ross. Lou is a better offensive player than Ross but he just kills the ball movement so much. His chucking became contagious last year. Plus he has zero defensive ability. I'd take Ross.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 I really like JV's game so far. Still has his weaknesses but he seems like a force in the post. JV is a complete stud. He had so many things going against him last year, namely: -Horrible perimeter defense from Lou/GV/Ross always forced him to step up which would inevitably leave him out of position or forced to take a stupid foul.. He developed a reputation of being a poor defender because of this IMO -GV and Lou would almost never give him the ball. The only guy who would pass to him consistently was Lowry The guy has great post moves and still moves well despite being the weight gain. I can see him averaging 18/10 this year.

Yeah he's been impressive. Still has to work on a few things but he's still young for a big man. I think his biggest weaknesses are his passing/awareness on offensive end and defensive end.
Travis_Snider Verified Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Jonas is a star. Few years from now a bit stronger and better footwork he can easily be a 20/10 guy.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Jonas is a star. Few years from now a bit stronger and better footwork he can easily be a 20/10 guy. Aren't we past the stage of evaluating a player based on point and rebound totals?
Swervin81 Verified Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 JV's PER is once again around 20, his TS% at 64%, and even 0.5 win shares already. Just keeps improving. He pretty much is already a stud.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 You already kind of have to rank him up in that non-superstar (non-DMC/Davis) tier of centers. Probably at the bottom, but without looking at the stats at all and completely off hand, he's probably slowly ascending the tier of guys like Vucevic, Drummond, Gasol, etc. Not quite there but he's getting there. He's a stud.
Travis_Snider Verified Member Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Aren't we past the stage of evaluating a player based on point and rebound totals? You can evaluate as you wish.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 I'd take Jonas over Vucevic. Vucevic is probably an even worse defender than JV.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 I'd take Jonas over Vucevic. Vucevic is probably an even worse defender than JV. It depends on personal preference imo. Vucevic has the capability to blow up for a ridiculous game or have a s***** game whereas JV is one of the more consistent young centers I've seen. Personally I prefer the highs and lows but there's totally an argument for either.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 You can evaluate as you wish. Sure but evaluating a player by points and rebounds is like evaluating a player based on Batting Average and RBIs. There are stats that give a better story on how good that player is.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 Speaking of centers, if only we kept Hassan GOATside. Dude's a beast.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 Really wish Scola would stop with the long 2s. Just set up at the 3 point line. Its like 3 feet farther from where he's currently taking thee jump shots.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 This might be a really long game.
Swervin81 Verified Member Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 Speaking of centers, if only we kept Hassan GOATside. Dude's a beast. Whiteside looked so lanky and unpolished in summer league. I'd even say he looked like total s*** in the SL with us. Other than being an athletic big, I saw no polish or skills in his game. He seems to just finally have figured it out. Has a much more refined game, his biggest problem is just immaturity now.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 This might be a really long game. Fully expected them to lose by double digits with the B2B but its certainly ugly so far. Offence has looked like a disaster in both shot selection and execution.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 Speaking of centers, if only we kept Hassan GOATside. Dude's a beast. That's a great what if but I wouldn't criticize management like Jays/Gomes. He was s*** while he was here lol
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 Yeah anything that happens this game is gravy
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 That's a great what if but I wouldn't criticize management like Jays/Gomes. He was s*** while he was here lol I will still blame BC for Andre Drummond though. f*** Terrence Ross.
Travis_Snider Verified Member Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 still think this will end a close game
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 If Biyombo defended himself he would score -20 points.
Travis_Snider Verified Member Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 they have to stop feeding biyombo so much lol

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 they have to stop feeding biyombo so much lol He's drawing a lot of fouls right now. Probably not a bad approach.

Travis_Snider Verified Member Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 great finish to the half
