Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 I just wanted to point out that while Colby currently leads the league with a whopping 38.1% K rate, much loftier aspirations are in sight. Can Rasmus possibly break Mark Reynolds all-time, single season record @ 35.4%? Anything is possible, if we believe. Sadly, at only 34%, Arencibia is going to have to step up the whiffs to get into the conversation. That would only register as the 5th worst qualified K rate of all time.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Call me crazy, but I think J.P. ends the year a higher K% than Rasmus. That's mostly due to my hate for JPA and that I have a sliver of hope for Rasmus, but it's a prediction nonetheless.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2013 Author Posted May 22, 2013 Where are my manners? I forgot to mention that Rasmus also has a shot at the all-time worst Contact rate, also held by (the possibly legally blind) Mark Reynolds.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2013 Author Posted May 22, 2013 Lol Mark Reynolds holds 4 of the 11 worst contact rates of all time. How the f***...

Rasmus K's 650*(35% K rate) = 228 K's
JugglingPitches Verified Member Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 So assuming 550 ABs, that makes 195.25 Ks his required strikeouts for this prestigious record. This makes 136.25 Ks his magic number. We should start a count down.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 LOL True sad and funny all at the same time
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 PA bro, no AB For JPA it's easier. PA pretty much = AB

Kelly Gruber Verified Member Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Colby makes me sad. Dude has a sweet swing, mammoth power, and plays at least an average CF, but alas we're probably better off without him at $6+ million next season. That is the sad part. It is such a wonderful swing......but he doesn't adjust his swing plane to attempt to make contact with the ball. If the pitcher doesn't throw it exactly where he normally swings he just gives up and misses it. Colby would be the best t-ball player in the world.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 I guess that's why his two biggest disciples, Bautista and EE have very good walk rates and why Murphy himself was the definition of a walk machine. I believe he was a league leader a couple of times, or at least very close. Hard to believe you are still so hung up on one meaningless statement.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 He single handedly destroyed Adam Lind and temporarily broke Aaron Hill.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 I bet the players would get a good laugh out of this idiotic conjecture.

Murphy didn't develop Edwin's 2012 swing, this has been established repeatedly.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2013 Author Posted May 22, 2013 I bet the players would get a good laugh out of this idiotic conjecture. I doubt it. Several of them made sidelong comments about the coaching change this offseason and backhanded remarks about the approach. Theres a reason why the change was made.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Where the fack is the GDT? Fatcow get detention or something?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Where the fack is the GDT? Fatcow get detention or something? @fatcowxlive 30m @BlueJaysBoard @GordieDougie @Angelo_riot GDT almost done, don't worry! #SchoolProblems lol
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Wo. You should reach 2K before 5 today. Depending on the severity of Spanky's hangover, you could reach 2K before anyone else reaches 1K. I'm sick, so meh, don't count on it. Is this faster than Fatcow's ridiculous pace once upon a time?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 No, I think you're considerably behind his peak pace. That's absolutely ridiculous.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 That's absolutely ridiculous. I'd classify it as sad. At least your posts have a bit more substance. XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

He has one of my top 5 swings ever when he connects, but man he needs to lay off those down and away sliders... So frustrating to watch... I root for the guy, but he makes himself hard to root for sometimes
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 I bet the players would get a good laugh out of this idiotic conjecture. Because most players want to swing away. They are happy to be told go ahead and don't worry about walks swing for the fences. However there is way too much out there that shows it's not the most effective way to score more runs over the season. My issue is not that people still rip DM, it's that they seemed to think that CM would be the savior. I saw very little difference in the approach in LV last year that I saw in Toronto.
