Jeremy and Jamie do their last mock draft ahead of the MLB Draft on Sunday. Based on who's available at the Blue Jays spot at eight, Jeremy makes the pick for college lefty Liam Doyle and explains why the Jays would go this way.

Less chatter about the draft than normal on this board - especially when we have a pretty high draft pick.  I think I'd be happy if we landed Doyle at #8.  I see him commonly mocked at #2.

There seems to be talk if one of the college lefties don't drop to us, that we'd go with one of the HS shortstops.  I also see C/OF Ike Irish mocked to the Jays on a couple of sites.  Some suggest Kyson Witherspoon could also be in play as one of the top RHP college arms.

What do the board experts think the Jays should be targeting at #8?  This video seems to suggest that no matter who go ahead of them, there will be lots of top talent available to them.

Obviously Ethan Holliday is in this coming draft, but there are several other familiar names expected to be called this weekend including:

Max McGwire

Kaeden Kent

Manny Ramirez Jr.

Austin Pierzynski

Brady Counsell

Cam Leiter

Carsten Sabathia

Jake Casey (Sean's kid)

Jayden Stroman (Marcus's brother)

No idea where these guys are projected to go, but keep an eye out for them this weekend.

Speaking for me alone, I don't generally pay attention to mocks because there's so many things that we, and they, don't know about the kids, the possible backroom deals and what a team is targeting based on their pool money.

Is Holliday the consensus #1? Or do the Nationals value pitching more?

Look at the last few drafts alone where a consensus top X pick slid to the Jays unexpectedly.

I find, for myself, the less I get excited about any particular draft eligible individual, the less upset it makes me when they pick someone else.

Yeah - that's fair.  I enjoy learning about the top picks - always lots of cool stories and I love following the picks.  But yes, more than in any other major sport - the MLB draft is unpredictable (primarily due to the money and HS/College) setup.

Can't wait to see what happens.

It would be cool if the Jays did as Pendleton mentioned the Parker bros both getting selected here.

I still love that prep 6' 8" kid Schoolkraft. Take him and save money for a hard sign with their 3rd  round pick would be sweet. Love Draft day.
