  1. If he’s less interested to play in Toronto than in Detroit or Houston for example, the 6th year could be needed to get him.
  2. With all these talks about Alonso going on… Hypothecally talking… Do you take Alonso at 3 years @ 25m per Bregman at 6 years @ 27.5m per
  3. https://www.sportsnet.ca/mlb/article/polanco-headlines-blue-jays-22-international-free-agent-signings/ I can’t find all the signing bonuses numbers but the Jays ended up signing 22 players. $5.1 million was spent on their top 4 of Polanco, Sanchez, Coronado and Blanco. I didn’t hear if Coronado was linked to them prior to the ifa signing period opening. I guess they signed a bunch of players in the 10000$-100000$ range to use some of the added ifa cap.
  4. Oof… you must have been devastated on Friday. 🥺
  5. I agree with you. I could see something like this to start the season with the actual roster. 1 - Gimenez 2 - Bichette 3 - Guerrero Jr 4 - Santander 5 - Varsho 6 - Kirk Springer/Clement/Wagner/Loperfido/Barger/Schneider… If it doesn’t work you push Gimenez down and leadoff Bichette. We are still missing a high contact hitter with good baserunning but it doesn’t look like there’s a great one available. I don’t see Alonso a fit at all unless it’s confirmed Vlad is leaving. If he would extend I would push hard for Bregman, than Profar and if both are not interested, settle for Grichuk in a platoon and re-assess next offseason.
  6. Will be a great acquisition if this is the price tag.
  7. 21. Jhoan De La Cruz, SS, D.R. 39. Carlos Alvarez, LHP, D.R. Both have either signed or are just about signed by the Padres. The others on your list seem to be still available. They could have agreements we are not aware off though. The next Blue jays after Polanco who had an agreement with the Blue Jays is Juan Sanchez who is right inside or right outside the top 50 depending on the rankings.
  8. Most of them have already signed. +/- 9 players were already expected to sign with the Blue Jays prior to the Sasaki saga and I don't believe they signed elsewhere. Closer to the top of the list, it looks like Manny Cedeno was expected to sign with the Yankees but it doesn't seem like he signed as of now. There is also Ayden Johnson that doesn't appear to have signed a contract yet. You dig down the list pretty fast when trying to find unsigned prospects and it's time consuming. I doubt the Jays find a way to spend all their money unless they spend above projections on the players that already had agreements with them.
  9. Could be worse... Sasaki watch, Drinking beer, waiting on the pizza to crisp (too soft from the pizzeria), waiting on my son to finish his movie and go to bed so I can play with his mom..... Nintendo...... play on the Nintendo with his mom...... 😅
  10. If I knew when he would sign I would not be stuck in front of my computer.
  11. I would add it ensures we stay on par with the Dodgers signing bonus if they were to trade for international bonus pool and bring it up to their maximum allowed. Can't hurt like you say !
  12. Guys, The extra 2m is not for Sasaki. It’s too sign Christopher Polanco AND Sasaki… 🤫
  13. He’s not a CF anymore because he gets injured more often there than as a RF.
  14. He’s ok defensively to me as well. What hurts is his offense is not strong enough anymore for his average defensive play.
  15. Springer passes the eye test if you only watch the game highlights reel. He’s still making nice diving catches.
  16. Tabarnack !!! 😮 It would be f***ing great to be THE preferred destination of a player who can basically choose wherever he can play.
  17. Not holding my breath over it but it would be f***ing great !
  18. 40 AAV can buy unlimited amounts of sweets, tacos, hot dogs and burgers… it’s a scary number !!! 😅 30AAV can do the same but whatever, it doesn’t feel as painful !
  19. Was there anything said about the number of years ? I don’t remember seeing 10 years anywhere but I do remember reading the media cranking the aav up when Soto signed. I assume when I saw mentions of 500M it was based on a 15 years contract.
  20. I understand your concerns. It’s not like the organization has had great success of turning struggling batters around the last three years. I still like the acquisition though. Would like it even more if we had more big bats to advance him when his average numbers bring him on base.
  21. I could see a moment where they were checking in on interest for Bassitt when they were hoping to land Corbin Burnes. I’d be surprised if they are still looking to trade him unless they are able to get Santander + Flaherty + RP for example. If they don’t land anybody of mention, might as well keep Bassitt to eat innings and trade him at the trade deadline.
