  1. go woke, go broke !!?? https://www.yahoo.com/sports/dodgers-rays-world-series-game-2-ratings-record-233849711.html
  2. .................................
  3. you had me confused for a bit. Probably more clear to say 20-25% (1/5 to 1/4)
  4. WHOOPS! I just realized my original suggestion was Soroka for "Gurriel, Woods-Richardson (or Manoah), and Groshans". Then later I was talking about only giving up unproven prospects. Gurriel has proven himself a good MLB player; still with some 'breakout' potential. But, I still think the massive upside of Soroka will be the winner. See Astros 2017, Verlander; Red Sox 2018, Sale; Nationals 2019, Strasburg.
  5. But there is a very good chance (from what he has shown in 214 ip with 4.9 fWAR at the BIG LEAGUE level), that Soroka could be as good as Roy Halladay in 2021. And he just turned 23. Giving up several unproven prospects for a guy that has shown 'he's got it' in The Show makes so much sense (the Achilles will heal fine enough it shouldn't significantly affect his pitching). Getting the 'best player' who also fits your window can usually 'win' the trade. It reminds me of the Jay's trade that brought over Donaldson.
  6. As long as it's not an established pitcher like Roark or Chase Anderson (retreads). What team might need some corner OF help and has a surplus of young pitching? Hmm, maybe AA over there who appears about to lose Ozuna? I wonder if he would be crazy enough to trade Soroka. I would give him Gurriel, Woods-Richardson (or Manoah), and Groshans-- now I am starting to sound like Dave Stewart trading for Shelby Millar
  7. So if the Jays were to land a top-tier CFer, we are talking about Grichuck, Teoscar and Gurriel, sharing time in the corner OF (and each with a few outings as DH). I guess it depends what you can get for any of these 3 in trade. If a deal can be made with one of them and a top pitching prospect, like Kloffenstein for example, being dealt for a high end, MLB ready, pitching prospect it seems you need to make the move. Question is how much of Grichuk's remaining $30M owed that the Jay's send the other way. Would be a big gamble for an unproven even if top tier prospect.
  8. I think Terninator was referring to Skydome (aka Rogers Center) as far as the alleged poor taste in architecture. The quote was " he walked along Blue Jays Way and gaped at the architectural marvel, flanked by the CN Tower". So the mentioned 'architectural marvel' appears to be Skydome. And indeed at the time in 1989 it was a true marvel, maybe not so much architectural, but certainly engineering-wise. The first successful fully retractable domed stadium!!! Even the Americans had to applaud the accomplishment (now retractable domed stadiums are a dime a dozen). As for CN Tower Toronto: NOT the tallest building in North America. It is officially classified as a 'free standing structure' rather than a building. Nonetheless, at the time it was built (completed in 1976), it was also an engineering masterpiece. It held the record for tallest free standing structure until being surpassed by Burj Khalifa in Dubai in 2014 (an actual dual purpose office and residential building.) Anyways, I can say from being on that upper observation deck at CN Tower: pretty amazing!, especially when it is windy and you feel that sucker swaying slightly!!
  9. sure but you can't just automatically project your own anti-US bias on to people for whcih you don't have any idea what their opinion of the USA is. South Koreans and Japanese like the USA in general (if for no other reason the USA has prevented them from being overun by the Commies for many decades and been an excellent market for their companies helping to make them wealthy countries). A bigger issue is that pretty much all these internationals, which I assume you use to refer to foreigners that come directly to MLB (pretty much only Japan S. Korea, and Cuba), will obtain representation by a US based sports agent and that agent will be highly likely (almost exclusively) to steer them away from the Jays. ETA: having Ryu , who I guess is the best Korean currently in MLB already on the Jays is a bonus and one tangible advantage they have in trying to attract this other guy Kim
  10. no offense intended but your comment suggests that you are a homosexual (not that there is anything wrong with that, )
  11. If the Jays are playing out of Buffalo or Dunedin, etc, in 2021, we will have MUCH BIGGER issues than playing in a 'minor league' stadium.
  12. and what circumstances might those be? this is delusional talk - coronavirus is statistically a non issue for young healthy people, and other than that Canada has nothing tangible to offer. Even of the Jays long term players over the years, how many actually moved to TO area full time? ETA: I believe even Buck Martinez has his main residence in Florida , LOL
  13. except as a 22 year old with limited experience (and looked like a fool/amateur at SS in game 2 of the playoff series), he has no right to dictate anything.......
  14. If spectator sports aren't back in full force by next spring, we have a real problem! Waiting for 'effective' vaccines is a fool's errand. It seems that we will see a fundamental change in the business, if things aren't sorted out in early 2021.Those who got the megacontracts most recently (Betts, Cole, Rendon, etc) could be the high mark for a good long time. Also, the free agent market, in the face of uncertainty, will be so tepid that any team that gambles big could win big.
