  1. Ideally I'd like to see us select a pitcher tomorrow, but after getting Martin at #5, I'll be happy with whoever...
  2. Oh, man! I had something important come up out of nowhere at 6:50 PM... by the time I was able to check back the draft I saw we had taken who was, IMO, the best player in the draft (and the best fit for us)... totally stoked now! I was hoping for Veen, then Meyer, and I also would've been okay with Hancock, but getting Austin Martin at #5 is incredible!
  3. The Padres are cursed... they are one of only two teams that has not drafted an All-Star in the past 20 years. (The Mariners are the other.)
  4. Legendary post!
  5. lol... catching up on the thread now and this is hilarious!
  6. Best MLB draft picks ever and one that got away for all 30 teams (ESPN).
  7. Done and done.
  8. Somebody had to make the thread Keep all the mocks, scouting reports, and articles in the other thread, and let's get this thread poppin' closer to draft time.
  9. lol, it does not include chicks and dudes (one in the pink, one the in the stink). I’ll go through my Inbox to reply to your last PM soon! My apologies to everyone else I forgot to reply to
  10. Is he cute enough to join our next GB?
  11. The Yomiuri Giants of Japan's NPB has just called off a preseason game hours ago after two players tested positive for the coronavirus. All Giants players, coaches, and staff will be tested for the virus in the morning (it's currently nighttime there). The NPB was trying to open its delayed season on June 19 (in empty stadiums), but that might all change now. The MLB will be following this news closely.
  12. lol... savage
  13. I’m becoming emotionally invested in Veen, too...
  14. Beggars can’t be choosers, but 50 games is some ********.
  15. Catching up on baseball news I might have missed during the pandemic, I actually went over some of the Executive Summary of the Red Sox investigation: https://img.mlbstatic.com/mlb-images/image/upload/mlb/scn5xwigcottcbte7siw.pdf According to the report, many players told investigators that "they were unaware that in-game sign decoding from the replay station had been prohibited in 2018 and 2019." That's despite the fact that most of them were on the team the year before during the Apple Watch incident, which Manfred himself said was used as the impetus to create serious guidelines for all of baseball regarding the legal use of technology during games. So those Boston players either lied to investigators or plugged their ears during the front office's "extensive efforts to communicate and enforce the rules." (The team president actually tweeted that out.) Either way, the Red Sox are full of s***.
  16. Yah, me too. I think the precedent set in the agreement this year (assuming there is one) will be huge during next year's CBA negotiations.
  17. I wonder how much of that has to do with how many of their sources are players/agents versus FO types...
  18. I think it would be pretty much impossible to start a new league. People make more out of the antitrust exemption than it is, but it would play a factor with cities that have teams/want new teams (because the antitrust exemption means they can't sue MLB). I don't know how they'd get around that, as I don't think there are enough cities in the US that don't already have an MLB team (or want an MLB team in future, in case the XLB folds) that could support a new-league ball club. Plus I rather like the traditions and history of Major League Baseball.
  19. lol... never change, Spanky
