  1. Kiermayer had a DRS of 25 to Pillar's 21 with 400 fewer innings played. Just sayin'
  2. I think you wait and see how he plays in 2017 after the hip surgery.
  3. Most likely he starts 2017 at AAA. But is it possible that he could make the Opening Day roster? Skipping AAA worked out with Osuna, and Travis, but failed with Pompey and Castro.
  4. I agree. In some interviews he's said things along the lines of "our stat guys tell us that this is the right play", so it does seem like he's fine being the puppet. Why not, you're getting paid either way.
  5. I'll take any empirical evidence you have, but you can keep your intuition. Throwing 100 pitches 5-6 times a month compared to someone throwing 20ish pitches per outing (not counting the games they dial it up, sit back down, dial it up again, etc.) and throwing 15+ times per month, gives them less rest between outings. For the people who said he'd only throw maybe 110 innings next year: We just watched Sanchez go from 92.1 innings to 192 in one season. Would Osuna go from 74 to 174? Not likely. But it still means he could throw 120 in the pen, and use him for 20-30 more innings. And lol at going from 110 innings one season to 140. More like 120-180 at least.
  6. We don't care if he accepts or not. If he accepts, he has a season to prove he's worth a short/big contract. If he doesn't accept, we get the conditional pick.
  7. If Mike Trout is providing a ton of value as a leadoff hitter, you wouldn't want to mess with it and try him in the 3 spot? There is a reason to mess with it, if you think it makes the team better. If Osuna gives 1.8 WAR out of the pen, but could be getting 4 WAR as a starter, you're missing out.
  8. I'm a bit surprised that people think the ship has sailed. He's 21, and has the most saves for his age. And even after a solid rookie season, he managed to improve from 1.3 WAR to 1.8 WAR with only 4 1/3 more innings. Last year I felt like he had the higher upside between him and Sanchez. Obviously Sanchez is really hitting his full potential. Shapiro led the league with Cleveland in wins/million, and having a young pitcher with 4 more years of control fits that model. Saying we have x guys better in the rotation doesn't really matter. This year was very lucky in terms of not having any starters go down with an injury. It also seems like the Blue Jays acquired Storen with the hopes that he could take over as the closer, and repurpose Osuna to either a longman for 2016. When Storen shat the bed, that changed. It should be interesting to see how Shapiro deals with it. Osuna has said that he wants to close, but it might be a waste of his full potential.
  9. After seeing Sanchez dominate, is Osuna next? He has multiple pitches, nerves of steel. Should the Jays try getting him 150 innings? Maybe start him for 120 innings and transition him to the bullpen to let him finish with 150 or so.
  10. So far pitching has been fairly close. Both starters last night had the same game scores. Tomlin has been the better pitcher today, but we haven't even thrown our best 2 starters yet. To talk about one team being superior midway through game 2 of a 7 game series is premature.
  11. He's definitely the other one that comes to mind.
  12. Not a fan of how Martin backhands those fastballs away. They're liable to pop away from him.
  13. If you're a lefty, how do you not have a sick move to first? Makes no sense.
