  1. Just to add to your comment... Apparently Shapiro himself offered Alex a 2 year deal. AA was not happy with the short term offer for obvious reasons and predictably rejected it, it was then Rogers who stepped in and offered AA the 5 year deal. In the press releases by Rogers and the Jays they have only mentioned the 5 year deal and conveniently left out the original 2 year deal. I can understand how AA was worried about the 2 year offer by Shapiro...basically a sign that Shapiro didn't have complete faith in him. The offer meant that AA had something to prove to Shapiro over the 2 years. AA in his own mind believed he didn't have to prove anything after the season he just had. Also...It's interesting that Rogers stepped in over Shapiro and made the 5 year offer. That's an interesting start to that relationship.
  2. That's my bad. I didn't mean silver sluggers literally. I was thinking more along the lines of bringing in high quality players (such as Donaldson, Tulo etc... finding ways to get it done)
  3. Personnaly I have always viewed prospects as assets to make the team better and those assets can be used in various ways. Either by directly playing for the club or being traded for a player that will help the club. Too many people read a few articles and fall in love with prospects they have never even seen before. It's pretty laughable at times, especially since the people probably learned about baseball by playing MLB the Show on playstation. I'm sorry to say this, but having a full roster of young studs under 25 at every position and dreaming of that 5 year window when everyone will be in their prime will NEVER happen. Sure the jays gave up prospects this year, but in a few years if we see the window closing, we can easily re-stock the prospect pool by trading away remaining assets.
  4. Sure I guess. Silver Lining's instead of GM that brings in Silver Sluggers
  5. Anthopoulos = Considered #1 candidate to continue as BlueJays GM. Shapiro = 3rd or 4th option down the list considered for BlueJays president GM = Main impact on the field Shapiro = Main impact off the field World Championships = Won on the field Now with Jays: Shapiro No longer with Jays: Anthopoulos This could not have played out any worse.
