This team as a whole has a terrible approach at the plate. This terrible approach coupled with the fact that when they do make contact it is not impactful. The eye test is enough, but drilling down they are at or near the bottom third in all baseball in:

secondary average (due to terrible plate discipline mostly)
walk % (see secondary average)
OPS (not bottom third but give it another week)
Is it s*** luck? Slow start and our players will revert to their career mean eventually? I don't know. But you have to put some of this failed approach at the plate on the coaching staff and also Montoyo. The ab's by Gurriel, Bichette, Chapman have been brutally bad. Tapia and Zimmer don't even merit a mention.
