  1. Let's say the Jays go out and get Bregman and Santander and somehow manage to find someone to close games without s***ing the bed. Then, miraculously make it into a wildcard spot for the playoffs. Like that is the Uber best case scenario and we would still have to start at minimum a retool for the following years based on the current pipeline. So what's the upside? I don't get it. Just start the teardown now. I don't care how many loony dogs you sell in 2025 or how many sexy wardrobe changes we see from Emily Agard in the Flightdeck. Get to the heart of the matter and start the rebuild from A-ball on up. Every other course of action is just delaying the inevitable.
  2. Quitting before the season even starts huh? Why you gotta be like that?
  3. Unfair and illogical assessment because it would apply to every other team he hasn't signed with. Ie. Everyone
  4. Can we start calling him Stand-pat Elias?
  5. I love this pic. Great bokeh!
  6. Traditionally we've always had a trade deadline thread on the old board which worked well leading up to the trade deadline. Offseason is a different story it seems. Keep it simple I say and let the MODS determine when something is egregious and needs to be moved/merged into another thread. "A man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest."
  7. My wife said that I was more talkative last night into today. She thinks I am becoming a better communicator. I didn't have the heart to tell the message board was down. 😎
  8. Yep. Some threads are destined for Darwin's waiting room. They take care of themselves.
  9. Is that supposed to be negative? That is one part of being a good GM, no?
  10. Greedy bastards!
  11. This is probably true. Being a couple of years younger than Teo and a switch hitter I think is intriguing for the Jays. He is likely holding out for the longest term he can get but 4/$82m would be decent bet for the Jays in my book especially with the Springer contract coming off the books after 2026. Nothing ventured nothing gained is how the saying goes, right?
  12. I suspect at this point it is not even an Atkins decision anymore; it's strictly on Shapiro and Ownership, whereas Atkins will have to assemble pieces for this team based on the outcome not of his making. In this sense you can't completely s*** on Atkins for the Vlad situation. Sometimes GM's have their hands tied in ways the general public can't see but take all the heat.
  13. I think this time the Jays will bag the elephant and get Santander (desperate times, desperate measures etc.) Get ready to jump back on the Atkins train in 2025.
  14. Nice sentiment but you know there is someone (?) sitting in front of his computer right now thinking... Happy New Year everyone!
  15. I like what you've done to the place Brock. But it's going to take me a while to get used to the new car smell.
  16. Did it ever occur to you that maybe these guys are content with the status quo? I don't mean 74 wins status quo, but barely squeeking into the playoffs year after year. Barring another generational player falling into the Jays laps, they aren't going to be the "going for it team" in the near future. That's reality.
  17. Just copy and pasted the link.
  18. Turning and turning in the widening gyre

  19. Testing how to add a post from X. Easy.
  20. We will all remember where we were the moment SpankyNet became self aware on December 31,2024 @ 11:59pm just as the new JaysCentre.com launched.
  21. I listen to Blair and Barker on occasion. I am subscribed to "Foul Territory" which is not specific to the Jays but overall mlb topics and they pull interviews from around the league. Most recently they had a good segment from the Phillies Show and interviewed Jordan Romano. They are on youtube as well I believe.
