    Why should I stay away? Where does it state in the rulebook that said fan must follow every season regardless of the type of team that is fielded? Maybe you should send a request to Rogers to issue a memo stating that "only fans who follow MLB as their fav sport are welcomed in the ballpark and only those who were glued from 94-14 accepted!

    I started posting here b/c I decided I would take a chance on the Jays and start watching more and more of their games just to get more familiar with the current team if in fact they do go all the way. It's not like 92 & 93 when I was glued from the beginning of the season to the very endings but atleast I'm paying more attention to the team. And to answer your question yes I'm interested past the final score as long as the games continue to be meaningful.

    I have no cause to watch a team going nowhere cause its a waste of my time. And yes I want them to win it all so badly I will get angry when they lose when the stakes are high as in 92/93 I almost punched a hole in the wall when things got rocky on many occasions. As far as loving the sport goes well like I said I don't love the sport I just love one team. And as far as understanding goes well its fairly self explanatory as the only thing I don't know much about is knowing the type of pitches a pitcher used after he releases the ball as I've never played baseball before so I don't really care what pitch he threw just the outcome of the said pitch.

    The difference for me from 92/93 to lean years was that I stopped watching full games as I basically channel surfed Jays games from time to time and watched highlights and looked at the standings and glanced at the Jays stats. From 89 to early 94 I watched every game when I had the chance to be in front of a tv. So what is wrong if myself or others got spoiled and then get slapped in the face as result of a losing ball club and then lost interest.

    Then why are you bothering people for not coming out or watching during the lean years? A sign last week at the Dome basically said it best "If you Bring It We Will Come" That basically summarizes the Toronto baseball fans.

    I guess in your book the Jays should still have drawn 4 million fans during the lean years as well.

    Yes I know they had some good individual years but folks like Delgado, Halladay etc. don't give me the same sentimental values as a Joe Carter, Robbie Alomar, Molitor etc. The lean years for the Jays all I needed to do is look at the standings and the players stats as I didn't feel like wasting 3hrs a night on a meaningless game.

    I started watching NFL preseason last night fyi! NFL is one sport where I can watch all 32 teams hence have Sunday Ticket.

    I haven't supported any other MLB team since 1989 other than the Jays even though I stopped watching regularly around 95/95 doesn't mean I didn't support the team as I did just by rooting for them in the standings & scoreboard watching. And yes 1994-2014 can be considered as boring as the Jays gave me no excitement as the games were mostly meaningless and thus nothing to be really happy or angry about.

    Yep and I guess those fans were a different type of bandwagon altogether. I never liked the idea of one nationality just coming out to support their own countrymen even though they don't really follow the sport. I couldn't stand when fans came to see Jeremy Lin as a member of the Knicks at the ACC back in 2013.

    Yes I know MLB has star players but what I meant to say is that they don't get the same kind of attention that a Lebron James gets when he visits your local city.

    Very true I am not a MLB fan or baseball fan but just a Jays fan since around 1989 when I started following.

    Correct what is the point of watching & cheering for a team with nothing to cheer for e.g. post 1993 Jays. Also I would imagine most fans don't watch other MLB teams play as I haven't watched a World Series game in full since 1993 as just channel surfed them since. I think it also has to do with baseball being a very boring game with nothing on the line to root for. With NHL & NBA you can still find solace in watching star players on the other teams when they come in and thus find some form of excitement which the MLB doesn't offer.

    Correct and I'm glad you mentioned the lost games earlier this season as those games are the only reason why the Jays don't have the division wrapped up. The ones that loom large are the blown saves as 17 were blown and 14 turned out to be losses.

    Oh I know they can't score that many every night but I just would of wanted some more runs for comfort today as after Pillar made that bone headed play the game was very winnable for the A's when only down 4-2.

    Agree and also I'll add that up until 1993 the Jays had become more popular than the Leafs b/c one team was winning and the other was constantly losing. Also I should add that other team is still constantly losing lol!

    Part of the reason why the Jays have so many bandwagon fans can be attributed to the fact that many folks don't care about the MLB outside of the Jays. I basically put the MLB at the bottom of the 4 major leagues that I watch with the NFL coming at the top and then followed by NBA, NHL, and then MLB. Keep in mind I watch the NFL regardless of who's playing aside from being a Niner fan I'm an NFL fan first but the same can't be said with the other 3 leagues as for the NHL I only care for the Red Wings, NBA Raptors and MLB Jays.

    My only concern for the past 2 games was that with the 18 innings worth of at bats the Jays were shutout in all but 3 of them. Only scored in 1 & 2nd last night and 2nd today. Need more balance in hitting moving forward.

    The Jays fans in & around Toronto have also had a desire to attend games but were driven away by poor play post 1993. I am a Jays fan but stop watching post 1993 b/c of unbearable play and also b/c I don't follow much MLB outside of the Jays. Keep in mind I will watch non Jays games that has implications on them e.g. Yankees. The bottom line is that losing baseball is not fun and thus if fans can't have attend meaningful games then you might as well stay home. Up until this season the only reason I had to attend a Jays game was for social purposes as I paid very little attention to the games. Also if you really want affordable seats that badly then I suggest you go on tickemaster as soon as the season starts and purchase games well in advance. You can also still do that for September games and you don't have to worry about other fans getting seats b/c if you snooze you lose.
