Hitting coach is one of the most overrated positions in baseball. It's more of a hope that they don't mess up a guys swing than actually fixing it. Plus putting in video time and exercises.
A manager is only as good as his bad decisions. The more he makes, the less likely the team can outplay them.
Montoyo has made some bad decisions that cannot be outplayed by this team. With the age of this group I would have hired someone a little better pedigree.
Gibby was removed because Managers have a shorter shelf life then GMs. When a GM is not great, they make more managerial moves to cover for their issues. Thats why a guy like Cox was in ATL for so long. Good GM.
Teams with great GMs and good coaches last longer because the bigger issues arise a lot less.
Toronto has below avg GMs so I don't think Montoyo sticks unless these youngsters outshine their GM and coach.
Montoyo should be replaced. He is in over his head. It is obvious. Why it won't happen is because pride will keep the management staff from seeing their mistake, and they won't admit making said mistake.
He seems like a good bench guy, but he should not be puppeteering this team, especially with VGJ, Bo and others coming along.
Schneider maybe? Girardi?
Better pitching and timing. He will adapt, you can see he is already starting to. I'd like to see him work to the right side of the field, let the ball get a little deeper. Christian Yelich stylings.
Not nearly the same type of player. Trout has always been an athlete, with no concern over his weight, diet, self preservation, fitness etc.
Vlad is in there with CC and Prince. Stay away from carbs. 60% veggies, 20% protein 20% fat
