Oh well I am out of here. We both should be happy. You didn't have to give up your beloved prospect in Hoffman and we didn't have to give up DD. Works out for both sides.
The money that DD makes is so trivial compared to the total outlays in payroll it would be worth it to Angelos. He is somebody you don't cross and he holds grudges.
Peter Angelos is very charitable man. He gave thousands of tickets out for free to the playoffs. Donates millions to Baltimore institutions and helps out the poor. I think he values himself more as a person than what someone who is infatuated with baseball in Toronto thinks about him.
You have had other people troll you? I would expect that no one before has ever had any reason to troll you. Why would you troll a team that never wins? I mean was there even an Internet in 1993? The only reason I knew about this board was because you guys tried to troll our board.
You guys are so simple minded you don't think a GM has more influence on a teams place in the standings than a single player. And it isn't a promotion.
He cant he signed a contract. Angelos has made his money taking people to court. He is currently fighting major league baseball in court. I don't think he is one you want to test in a legal battle.
Well if you can get a GM/CEO to take you to the playoffs for less than what it would take to get DD than go get him. Just because something is undervalued by others does not mean DD is not worth what the Orioles want. The Orioles realize his value to them. And it is more than what they are asking for. They are only even contemplating giving him up because he has asked to leave. He would improve the Blue Jays and they are a direct competitor to the Orioles. So not only him leaving would make the Orioles worse he would make the Jays better.
I would take he stays for the next 4 years. DD can quit but he can't become the Jays employee if he does. He is under contract to the Orioles. If he quits he goes back to running a baseball camp for kids.
Epstein had one year on his contract, DD has four. The Red Sox were unhappy with Epstein and wanted to get rid of him. The Orioles are tickled pink with the job DD has done. There is no correlation. If you were to trade Josh Donaldson do you expect to get more for him than Navarro or do you think all players return the same amount?
What are you going on about? Do you have inferiority complex or something? I have been to Montreal, Quebec City, and Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick. Nothing against Canada here. I would like to visit Vancouver one day as well and maybe Newfoundland.
You can call a GM a CEO but he still is a GM. You don't go after GM's with them just handling when to open or close the dome. You handle them for baseball decisions.
Well the Orioles management seems to be on the same page as I am. You are the one who thinks Hoffman would be enough because you overrate your prospects. The Orioles always said Hoffman was not enough. THe Jays will never get DD for Hoffman. That is a fact.
Ubaldo is our sixth best starter. I am not worried about him. He started to improve at the end of the year. If not he will be long reliever in the bullpen.
No prospect is worth more than a top 5 GM. Certainly not a player that is a long shot at best. Even a single future hall of fame player in his prime isn't going to take a crappy team and make them a playoff team. DD can do that for you. Look at Felix Hernandez. Most Dominant pitcher in the AL and yet the Mariners are loser year after year.
Seems like a fair proposal. We didn't want to get rid of DD. We gave you an opportunity to acquire him for a fair price. You dont' want to pay the price than you go home. You are stuck with a GM with a proven record of failure and we are stuck with a GM with a proven record of winning. Who is the dumb organization?
This isn't a troll. I said the same thing on the Orioles board. Hoffman is not enough. He might have a 20 percent chance of being a successful starter in the majors. I am not giving up a sure thing GM for a guy who is a risk of never doing anything.
Subtle? We had three top 5 picks in all off baseball pitchers int he last 12 years who have turned out to be total busts Loewen, Hobgood, and Matusz who turned out to be busts. So sorry if your bad draft selection isn't tempting us. He throws hard but didn't have success in college and is 22? He should have been dominating at college as he was older than most of the players. Why in hell would we want to take your mistakes? Sorry your baseball guys don't know talent. If they did they would win once in a while.
