  1. Reyes Melky Donaldson Bautista Encarnacion Martin Navarro Travis Pompey Trade Thole
  2. Okay, well then at the expense of Sanchez we have less holes if he stays in the bullpen and Happ as the 5th starter. LF signing and Navarro for a good BP arm seems very possible. Izturis/Tolleson until Travis.
  3. Damn...maybe we should just bring back Melky
  4. How much do we save if we non-tender Dirks?
  5. Lets not get crazy now
  6. Yeah hopefully Travis will be ready, just cannot see any more Goins, like not even 1 game.
  7. Realistically, no one we target would be an upgrade on Melky's bat. Knowing that and given what we have already added, any 1-2 WAR LF player would be an optimal target if we are not pursuing Melky, assuming we can add 2B or RP as a consequence.
  8. Would be nice but we're broke, plus I'm not a fan of chasing pitchers via FA
  9. Fowler/Markakis + Lowrie Then focus on trading Happ+Navarro for bullpen help, move Sanchez to Starting rotation. DONE
  10. Hey guys new to the forums, what's up! While I do agree Oakland did not get full value, there is no way they got fleeced. Someone posted that the Jays essentially gave up Marcum and a bunch of 6-8th rounders for JD. If you look at how they developed him (JD), it's a similar story on their end as well. Few more things to consider: -JD is probably at peak value -Oakland's all-in failed and their dream rotation 50% went to s***; A rotation they gave up several promising prospects for. -JD putting up another possible 7 war season would be wasted if the goal is to win it all for OAK, and soon he will be on the decline. So instead, from their perspective, they converted a failed catcher prospect to 3rd base and then flipped him for 4 promising position and pitching prospects??? Don't go thinking we fleeced anyone, we gave up A LOT. We have some pitching prospects, but our position player depth (prospects) after all these trades has been gutted even further giving up both Lawrie and Baretto, and the 1st round pick to sign Martin (wouldn't have happened if D'Arnaud was still here). This article is a very good read if you haven't read it already. http://grantland.com/the-triangle/josh-donaldson-trade-oakland-toronto-billy-beane/ For this reason nvm what the budget really is, AA has already committed to an all-in whether he knows it or not, and better fill the remaining holes on the roster to beat out BAL. If TOR fails to make the playoffs this year, the window is very realistically closed, and given the fact our current ninja GM has been pulling off all these potentially devastating blockbuster trades already, it's unlikely he could or would be given the chance to pull off another one to get us out of that jam so the window will likely stay shut for a while.
