    This is a really dumb idea for so many reasons. How is it going to speed up the game when you get a guy that has no control walking in runs?... Oh but I forgot how fun that would be to watch! And suppose you have a 15 inning game the night before... are you going to be forced to use your bullpen in a way that is going to damage arms instead of letting guys pitch to one batter? If they want to cut down on game time, stop letting teams watch the replay from 10 different angles before challenging a play.

    I hate rod black. I still hold a grudge for the Todd Hlushko interview at the 1994 olympics... goes something like "you just lost the game (final v. Sweden) by letting in that shootout goal after promising your dad the gold medal on his deathbed a week ago... how does this make you feel?". At which point the guy bursts into tears and runs away. not to mention his interview with Kurt Browning from the same olympics where Black basically calls him a failure (not that i like Browning or figure skating for that matter). fast forward to 6:00 for the start of the interview.... there is another one I cant find where he says something like "your career is over, you failed to win a gold medal, how does this make you feel?"

    Whelp I was pretty much wrong. Storen sucks. Os are good. Rays/Yankees suck. We dont suck. In retrospect though, the lack of lefty relief has really cost us. At this point that seems to be the only glaring hole in the roster. The more interesting question now is whether people agree with the mid-season approach that the FO has taken. Ignoring EE (seems to be failing) while gambling that Bautista wont have a 30 million dollar season (seems to be working), picking up Grilli (a plus), and resigning Smoak (ugh) are the more obvious.

    Sanchez has now has an ERA of 9.00 in 1 IP of relief this season (at the ASG). We should probably just demote him rather than sticking him in the bullpen to preserve his inning cap.

    Lets limit it to the Jays. I'll ante with the obvious one: Russell Martin has a higher Def rating at 3B (0.2) in 1 inning than at C (0.1) in 599 innings.     Didnt they though? If you had asked me at the beginning of the season how we would have performed I would have said: Offence: Number 1-3, one of the best in the league if not the best Starting rotation: a ho-hum 14-15th overall Bullpen: Middle of the pack, 13-17th overall And where do they sit now? Offence: 7th in runs scored, 9th in WAR [3rd in our Division] Starting rotation: 10th in WAR [3rd best in the AL!] Bullpen: 12th in WAR The bullpen being league average cant be that surprising. Coming into the season we were short left handed options and everyone knew this would be a problem. Yeah, Storen hasnt been great, Cecil got hurt (and sucked for a bit) but Biagini has been better than expected and now we have Grilli. What surprises me is that our offence has under-produced for most of the season and that our starting rotation have been as dominant as they are (especially since Stroman has completely sucked in the second half).
