  1. Well we are all wanting him to be used as a platoon guy in CF with Pillar not an everyday player. He will be more than serviceable vs RHP to be a valuable player when you include his overall game.
  2. WTF is going on here? Iv seen like 2 pages of 10 line paragraph posts and haven't read a single one because it seems like a waste of time.
  3. I would rather have three number 2/3 starters than a so called"ace" (which Shields isn't) and couple other roster sport being occupied by replacement players.
  4. But you could say it broke a lot sooner than it was if the Jays didn't handle him like this.
  5. Nothing like another sports scandal story! This time involving Jeff Wilpon and the Mets. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/mets/mets-co-owner-jeff-wilpon-accused-discrimination-pregnant-unmarried-woman-bombshell-lawsuit-article-1.1935123?cid=bitly
  6. My thought at the time
  7. Not sure why everyone wants Shields so bad. Shields would be great to have but I would much rather have a good 2nd baseman and LF. Shields is going to cost more money than Buehrle and probably will want at least a 4 year deal. I honestly think Headley would make this team better than Shields would next season.
  8. This is my opinion but i think there is truth to it. Rogers let them add payroll but only on the actual deadline day. A week before the deadline there wasn't money available. This would prove Bob Eliott was correct based on the timing of his article. Also could be why they didn't trade for Headley or McCarthy which I thought was a huge mistake. The trades on the actual deadline day did not make sense player wise but they had time before that day to make a deal..And they didn't.
  9. You can replace "the sport" with society. How many sexual assault cases get thrown out of court each year? There was an E60 last night of how many sexual assault cases go unreported in the military because the females that have reported it get discharged a year later.
  10. So why exactly was Graveman added to the 40 man?
  11. If the Blue Jays start Pillar in LF full time next year you may as well tell fans to cancel buying season tickets because that is the message you are sending. We all think Pillar could be a good platoon guy but we haven't even seen that yet. He's got a .338 BABIP and a 74wRC+ with not one walk in 82 PA. The guy will be 26 by the time next season starts. There is no way you can justify having this guy start. His numbers in the minors suggest maybe he can be a .285/.315/.420 vs LHP which is just fine in CF but by no way can this guy be a LF..
  12. Besides the Government the NFL probably has the most power in the US.
  13. H can probably hit .270 maybe .280 in big leagues but his OBP is going to be hard to get over .300 and that is a major concern when you don't hit for any power. I think he doesn't become much more than a 4th OF and the Blue Jays should know this.
  14. Blue Jays really have to pray one of KC or DET collapses. Blue Jays are going to have to sweep the Mariners anyway if they want to make the playoffs so they can pick up games there.
  15. I think you are right about the first part. Still, if you were his daughter would you like your picture posted on message boards? I am sure many of us have Facebook and somebody could copy a picture from our profile pic...
  16. Its one thing to post about Mike Wilner and his knowledge about baseball but posting about his family is pretty bad. Leave his private life out of it especially his kids.
  17. He would probably get a one year 20 million if he continues his performance for the last 2 starts. Its the SN media like Wilner, Blair, Bobcat and Brunt that are all claiming you have to eat money. Meanwhile they are all saying Melky is going to get $90 million. My feeling is that if you can trade Buehrle and get something decent back and don't have to eat money you do it. But if you don't get anything in return you are better to take the guaranteed innings and get rid of Happ who I am not the biggest fan of.
  18. No it isn't. You probably just went to Fangraphs and looked into the DEF column which includes positional adjustment. He's been worth -5 runs or -0.5 dWAR.
  19. Have you made a good chunk of change on FD or DK?
  20. IF I was Stanton I would just demand they give me a NTC. Miami could take it or let him go to FA.
  21. At that time IIRC it wasn't that bad. We had like 5 AAA players in the lineup.
  22. He works out to a little below average. He has bad range but the arm makes up for most of it in LF. UZR and DRS had him at -3 runs in LF. He is fine there for a year or 2 but by the time he turns 32,33 he is going to be awful.
  23. Apparently the reason the Jays never went overslot was because the Commish Office gave the Jays a $5 million cheque each year as a currency equivalent in a wink wink deal they would not go overslot for anyone. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/baseball/beeston-prepared-to-pay-the-price-for-success/article786321/
  24. And thats why I don't mind having Gibbons. All managers will make dumb moves, its who makes the least dumb moves is the guy you want.
