  1. Santana I get, Jimenez made sense to me. Running with what they have also wouldn't look so terrible if the team managed to strengthen even 1 of it's other fairly obvious holes beyond getting a backup player and handing him the full time gig. At this point I can only assume sometime before Happ AA suffered an undiagnosed stroke.
  2. Ya, I guess I can sum it up by saying I don't view Goins very highly.
  3. Now, sure. The timeline I'm looking at though is day 1 after the season ends, second base should have been on the radar right after the rotation and C. If AA was looking at investing that much resources into Kinsler while still needing to address the rotation then sticking with Goins is a little odd no?
  4. I agree, on the terms that we can label Goins as plan E or below, because I can't imagine him being the 3rd best option available at the start of the off-season, nor can I imagine second base as not being a position the Jays should have looked hard at upgrading.
  5. I'm left wondering, how the do they go from looking into Kinsler to running with Goins? If true this gives a big boost of credibility to the Drew angle. Of course AA could have simply been looking at the upgrade non-positionally and just in terms of wins added, if such thought is possible with this front office. If that's the case though then not doing anything from now til the season starts would even be more puzzling. So they're going to do something right? Fingers crossed on it not being stupid.
  6. Draft pick compensation + the Toronto factor (whatever the hell that is but at this point I assume it does exist) are at play though. I can't see Toronto getting away with signing him by offering up what the rest of the market is willing. Jays almost assuredly are looking at an overpay to get any decent FA at this point. I'll be somewhat surprised if they sign him and very surprised if it only costs 14 a year.
  7. I thought about it, but I kinda like the fact that the only place I can go from here is down, I find the parallels it draws with my life comforting in their familiarity.
  8. Took some time after the train wreck of last season, cured myself of the ensuing mental trauma by consistently watching 5+ hours of hardcore porn each day, I feel like I'm now ready for another gut wrenching Jays season.
  9. Yep, especially when we're talking about these guys being play by play men, they don't need to know the value of a walk, they just need to make it sound pretty when it happens.
  10. I'm not really worried about the dollar. The new revenue sharing formula which is set to take full effect in 2016 is far more of an issue. Still Jays are positioned decently here by owning the broadcast channels, they can potentially cut a huge chunk of what they may otherwise be forced to pay into the shared pool by selling themselves their rights at the bottom of the MLB formula. In the end it's the same f***ing story as it's always been, team needs to win, that solves everything.
  11. What scares me slightly is that I recall this being the same organization that ran into issues in the past with not locking in their next years payroll funds in US dollars early enough and then the loonie tanked. Then again Godfrey was running things back then and was probably too preoccupied with torturing small animals. Also, hello I am apparently still alive.
