Would have been a platoon with Valencia and Bautista would have been on the bench/DL. Bautista is only in the lineup because he is much better than Smoak.

I was a believer in the high walk/low hits and high groundball combo pre season, But he has gone so far to the extreme that it's not possible to be successful. I am not really a believer anymore, all I can cling to is SSS.

Almost all aces have a 95 mph fastball stock, that's not a coincidence. Command is more important, but velocity is usually the difference between a 3 and 1. Also the bar for 5th starter is pretty low.

He has an ace's fastball, that's about it. Even if he cuts the walks down he is likely a number 3 tops at this point, needs a swing and miss offspeed pitch he can throw for strikes to be anything better.

Although it seems that way, this is not an anti WAR post/pro Sanchez post. I just thought it was funny that Sanchez' best start likely isn't even replacement value.

Can't get by with that amount of walks, I can believe in 5 BB/9 if he limits hits to 7.5/9 with lots of ground balls. No way can he get by with 7bb/9, would need like 6 h/9 to make that work and that's not possible as a starter. hopefully he cuts the walks down because he can't succeed long term as is.

Depends on the prospects and the other team in the trade, I don't think AA wants to pay either of them what they would get on the market so I assume he won't resign both, so why keep both. AA will likely be looking for more control than both players currently have though, so a deal with a contender may be hard to line up. Another thing is if a player is being traded from a seller for prospects, the Jays have to beat most other teams in baseballs offers, But few other teams have an offensive asset they can move to a contender without destroying their own offense. At the same time few teams have pitching they can move of that caliber that won't hinder their own playoff chances. Long shot, but worth exploring. -

Anybody else find it odd that the Jays have scored the most runs, while giving up all the runs, and Gibbons keeps putting terrible defenders in the outfield for marginal offensive boosts. Although AA has handcuffed him by sending Pompey down.

I think Estrada's problem is that is his fastball isn't hard enough to keep hitters off the changeup. They can sit on it and cheat to get the fastball, while all but ignoring his curveball, that combined with how flat both pitches are make mistakes easy to destroy.

I highly doubt AA would do that, more likely trying to replace cash Rogers should be giving him.
