  1. I too think this is related to Happ's back no trade, AA and Gibbons and Seietzer for that matter are all very high on Goins and I'm just not sure if they want to get another 2B
  2. According to mlbtr Santana is deciding between the jays who offered 14M and the orioles who offered 13M plus incentives, so atleast we know we have offered him more guaranteed money than the orioles, question is how much does Santana like the incentives the orioles are offering
  3. The one advantage the jays have in this is we offer him 14M and only have to give up our 2nd if we get him, if a team wants to go higher not only will they have to pay 15M+ they will also have to give up their 1st and I really don't know if Santana is worth giving a 1st up for
  4. Not a real reliable source, but incarcerated bob said drew is flying to Florida right now where the blue jays and mets are holding spring training and bob says he will decide between the 2 teams
  5. If AA seriously doesn't sign either Santana or Jimenez or doesn't spend money any where else than the move to let JJ go has to come in to serious consideration. He was the main target in the marlins trade and than a year later you let him walk instead of giving him one more year, especially when you intend to replace him with no one!
  6. I don't know Washington already has: 1.Strasburg 2.Fister 3.Gonzalez 4.Zimmerman 5.Detwiller I know Burnett could replace Detwiller but I mean the nationals really don't need him and would he realt want to be a #5? Only way I see it happening is if Burnett takes a pretty big discount to be closer to home, which I guess is possible.
  7. According to mlbtr neither the orioles or phillies are likely to add burnett, which IMO would seem to make his only suitors Toronto or Pitsburgh? If that is the case I think we could offer burnett more money than the pirates seeing as I think we need him more.
  8. Boras has said he is willing to play any position including 2B and as long as he's willing to come here and the jays can work something reasonable out with boras than Drew would be an upgrade over both goins and izturis. I would not give him more than 3 years however.
  9. Seems like the marlins got Baker pretty cheap, surprised AA wasn't in on him as a platoon partner. AA has also mentioned a few times that they were discussing a couple deals involving a bat so I beleive if AA does get a RH bat it will be via trade, if not than it will be Sierra because there is no one could left in FA
  10. From interviews I have seen Gibbons has mentioned many times they like Happ and they see him in the starting rotation. I don't see AA signing capuano because I don't think he is that much of an upgrade over Happ. IMO AA will sign one of Santana/Jimenez and go with that. 1.Dickey 2.Jimenez/Santana 3.Buerhle 4.Morrow 5.Happ Redmond/Rogers/Hutch/Drabek/ Stroman all depth
  11. If Tex was able to get Fielder for Kinsler but had a deal worked out with toronto first that fell apart only because of Kinsler's NTC, than it really makes you wonder and a bit scared to guess what AA was offering Tex.
  12. Let's cross our fingers that the team is us but most likely won't be.
  13. Orioles are working towards a deal with Rodney but aside from him are also expected to make another "significant" move. I think there's a chance that other significant move is a SP, that or maybe a morales signing
  14. Actually a story up on tsn about wells and the jays. Not a rumor just a column written by a guy who thinks it would be a good idea to bring him back. http://www.tsn.ca/mlb/story/?id=441069
  15. I wouldn't be totally opposed to Wells, as long as he came very cheap which I suspect he would take less money to come back to toronto. AA said he wanted someone who can play CF and Wells did that for years in the Rogers center. He also started off pretty good last season with the yanks but finished horribly. He wouldn't be my first choice but if AA couldn't get anyone else I would prefer Wells on our bench than Sierra/Pillar.
  16. The dodgers apparently did not say that. "Meanwhile, Nightengale softens his stance in a pair of new tweets, noting that the Dodgers confirmed their interest but don't want to spend "wildly" or do anything crazy with their bid in order to land Tanaka." From mlbtr
  17. If I'm AA I would bring Kawasaki to any formal meeting with Tanaka to help convince him to play in Toronto. Kawasaki can tell him how much he loves the city and how well the fans have responded to him and try and really sell the jays to tanaka. In regards to a contract I think tanaka could be that "right deal" guy AA has hinted at all offseason and he may be willing to offer 6 years.
  18. I've been tossing around Rasmus proposals for fun the past couple days and I came up with a proposal with the white sox that I wanted opinions on: Rasmus + mid level pitcher like Jenkins To whitesox for Becham+Viciedo+De Aza+ Prospect like Micah Johnson - I believe this move fills a lot of holes for this team. Becham fills a home at 2B, Viciedo can be the RH bat coming off the bench we need to platoon with Lind, De Aza can takeover in CF with the Departure of Rasmus and I would also want a decent prospect back in the deal like Johnson. Batting order after trade: 1.Reyes(SS) 2.De Aza(CF) 3.Bautista(RF) 4.Encarnacion(DH) 5.Lind(1B) 6.Lawrie(3B) 7.Cabrera(LF) 8.Navarro© 9.Becham(2B) Bench Izturis/Goins(2B/SS) Thole© Viciedo(1B/OF) Gose(OF) I think after a trade like this we could sign 1 of tanaka,Garza or Jimenez and call it an offseason
  19. I believe this team only needs 1 SP who can fill the #2 spot. I'd be fine going into the season with: Dickey ?(Tanaka,Garza,Jimenez) Buerhle Morrow Happ/Rogers/Redmond/etc Tanaka and Garza are the only FA SP's that I think could actually slot into the #2 role so ideally I would prefer AA to sign one of those 2 but he could go the cheaper route and sign Jimenez to be the #3 and move Buerhle to #2. Santana would be a disaster in the AL east and pitching in RC, Jimenez I think although he also has is risks is a safer bet for the jays and a better fit than Santana
  20. I really doubt tanaka comes to the jays. I see him going to the yankees, cubs, diamondbacks, dodgers or the angels before toronto. If anything the fact he is going to be posted could be a good thing for the jays in the sense that one team is going to sign tanaka and than that would mean yet another team will be out in the garza/Santana/Jimenez sweepstakes and give the jays a better shot at 1 of the 3
  21. I would prefer Garza over Jimenez because I feel like the chances of Jimenez pulling a josh Johnson and really struggle in our arena and division are higher than that of Garza, with that being said if we can get Jimenez at a decent price and we have 2 protected 1sts I would think the risk would be one I would take. If he can pitch as well as he did in the 2nd half of last year he would be a great #3 guy IMO. Dickey Buerhle Jimenez Morrow Happ/Hutch/Rogers/Drabek
  22. I think morel has a chance to challenge Sierra for that right handed bat coming off the bench role. He can play 1st or DH against lefties
  23. It's actually a good fit. I was going to write in the thread yesterday I bet he goes to the braves
  24. Would be devastated if they traded Lawrie because I still feel like he has all star potential, also he's my favorite player and I just got his jersey
