it was just a comment on how his curveball looked today, I haven't seen him pitch on tv other than today and another early spring game, so I don't think you can say he can't control it at this point. I would say he threw about 5 curves, some really dropped to the ground (sweet break) and a couple didn't break as much and looked like what you described and they just missed high.
My point was once he gets that "sweet break" one in the zone he will be a K an inning pitcher and likely lower his bb/9. From what i've seen him do in spring training, he just gets out of any trouble by running that 2 seamer in on the righties, but could be K'ing a few more if they had to swing at that curve.
