    We're going to have to agree to disagree. I understand where you guys are coming from, and I don't mind getting a bat (why the expensive, often injured guy?), but I think we had more pressing needs first.

    Sure. And I get what you're saying, but: if we're going to give up top prospects why not use it to shore up our weakness first. Adding another bat is fine, but wait until we get a starter and some pen help. Jays' rotation is 21st in fWAR Jays' bullpen is 14th in fWAR Jays' line up is 3rd in fWAR.

    I'm sorry, but this trade f***ing blows. We didn't need another bat. Reyes was serviceable. We lead the the majors in runs scored, and 2nd in run differential in baseball. Let me get this right: we acquire a shortstop who costs twice as much, can't stay healthy (and now he's playing on turf.), and we gave up some of our better prospects to do it. We should have used those two lads we lost to get Hamels, Price, Samardzija, Gallardo, etc.

    Bruce is a good buy low guy, but the price is going to be steep. Supposedly they asked the White Sox for Quintana.

    By year 3 of this deal Hanley will be a SS. Short term contract is ideal. If Hanley is healthy, and motivated its a great deal. Disgruntled, and injured? Its going to be bad.

    Toothless rednecks don't care about baseball, though. Its all NASCAR & football down there. I think most Americans wouldn't be too upset if a team from Canada won the World Series. Although the twitter memes of faux outrage "OMG WHY ARE THOSE PINKO CANADIANS WINNING THE AMERICAN PAST TIME!!!1" would be entertaining.

    White Sox & Jose Quintana agree to a contract extension. Quintana gets a 5-year deal worth as much as $26.5 million. Two club options could take it as high as $48.5 million.

    With regards to the sabrmetrics, I consider myself pretty knowledgeable about them. But, HR/FB% always confused me. For a pitcher, lower the better, right? And for a hitter the higher the better, right? And is that the same to use IF/FB rate? Thanks. -WOY
