  1. Very sad news, As for a patch, Fernandez played 1450 of his 2158 MLB games in a Jays uniform, and is the franchise’s all-time leader in games played, hits (1583), singles (1160), triples (72), and bWAR (37.5) now factor in his gold glove defence at a premium position and no doubt will be honoured by the Jays. RIP Tony.
  2. Im undecided how I feel with a team picking their opponent, At first I thought no, then I thought teams play hard all year to earn the right why not....and to add to it, I believe it could give the "picked" team a a little fire under their ass....similar to how a batter feels when a team chooses to walk the guy ahead of him to get to him.
  3. Just heard Kobe Bryant was killed https://www.tmz.com/2020/01/26/kobe-bryant-killed-dead-helicopter-crash-in-calabasas/
  4. Heres some YouTube footage of Rafael Dolis. Former closer for Hanshin Tigers Fastball / Split (forkball-ish) pitcher. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFbkHWkFlqo&feature=youtu.be&fbclid=IwAR2gB_DENfMb_7uX5IgGK5c0Oa9uQ9qoirdTRhYOBDFZIvFgZK8NFQXNt9o
  5. Blue Jays Sign Joe Panik To Minor League Deal By George Miller | January 18, 2020 at 3:09pm CDT The Blue Jays have signed infielder Joe Panik to a minor league contract, reports Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun. The deal includes an invitation to Major League Spring Training. Panik is a client of Jet Sports Management.
  6. Astros To Interview John Gibbons By Connor Byrne | January 15, 2020 at 10:26pm CDT The Astros have lined up their first reported interview as they search for a new manager. They’ll meet with veteran skipper John Gibbons on Thursday, according to Mark Berman of Fox 26. The Texas-raised Gibbons is one of many experienced possibilities to reportedly land on the Astros’ radar early in their quest to replace A.J. Hinch. Gibbons has nearly 1,600 games on his resume, all of which have come with the Blue Jays. The 57-year-old had two separate stints as Toronto’s manager (one from 2004-08, the next from 2013-18), combining for 11 years, a 793-789 regular-season record and a pair of playoff berths. The Blue Jays advanced to the ALCS in each of those two seasons. After the Blue Jays parted with him, Gibbons spent last season out of coaching. Gibbons made it known back in the fall that he was hoping to get back into managing, but he didn’t receive any reported interviews before now.
  7. Hinch was suspended due to him being manager at the time this was going down, and Luhnow due to the fact that the organisation was under his watch at the time it happened, so in the big picture, Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred should be punished due to this going down under his supervision with not only the Astros but several other teams as well. He should feel the wrath. But it wont happen.
  8. So I guess our 2nd round draft pick moves up one position with Houston losing their pick
  9. yes he signed a one year deal but comes with 2 years of team control.
  10. Bob stayed up until after midnight so that he could be the first to start this thread and you want us to start using yours that was created at 9:30? Lol...Lets get this season started.
  11. This brings up a good question, do we have 6 years of control or is he a free agent after 2 years.
  12. If this is true, It will mark the second time Shatkins gave EE an offer and then went a different direction.
  13. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/12/blue-jays-to-sign-travis-shaw.html The Blue Jays are in agreement on a contract with free agent infielder Travis Shaw, reports Jon Paul Morosi of MLB Network (via Twitter). It’s a one-year deal, Morosi adds. It’ll be a $4MM guarantee for the Pro Star Management client, per MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand (on Twitter), who adds that the deal could climb to $4.675MM if Shaw maxes out his available incentives. Specifically, Shaw would receive $175K upon tallying 350 plate appearances, with an additional $125K for every 50 plate appearances accrued thereafter, maxing out at 550 plate appearances. The Brewers non-tendered Shaw earlier this month. It was an eventful couple of weeks on the market for the 29-year-old, who drew some interest from almost half the league.
  14. Yeah him Phil Bickford, RHP, Milwaukee Brewers The 18th pick in the 2015 draft, Phil Bickford had himself a quality season as a member of the Brewers' High-A affiliate's bullpen. He struck out more than 40 percent of the batters he faced, walked less than 10 percent for the first time in years, and continued to keep the ball in the yard despite flyball-centric ways. For as good as the stuff looks, teams have makeup concerns stemming from multiple failed drug tests. As such, Bickford might go unpicked -- even if his pedigree, results, and potential suggest he's worth a look. or Trevor Megill Trevor Megill RHP, San Diego Padres Megill is the largest individual on our list. He's officially 6-foot-8 and 235 pounds, and he looks the part. He spent most of last season at Triple-A, where he struck out nearly 13 batters per nine innings. Rest assured, Megill's game isn't about smoke and mirrors. He upped his velocity to where he sits in the mid-90s and can touch 98 when needed -- and that's just raw velocity; he gets good extension, leading to a quicker perception. Megill also has a plus slider with good spin that is his top secondary offering. He throws more strikes than others on this list, which should put him near the top of any attentive team's board. Edit: Here is one list on others available https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/2019-mlb-rule-5-draft-preview-16-names-to-know-including-pitchers-who-could-stick-on-rosters/
  15. The Jays may pick another guy in the Rule V draft tomorrow. With Roster expansion to 26 you may see more picks overall.
  16. Its a start...lol https://bluejaysnation.com/2019/12/10/blue-jays-signing-of-james-dykstra-and-the-evolution-of-talent-discovery/
  17. I don't think they can make a pick if their 40 man is full. Not sure if they can release someone off the 40 man to select a guy.
  18. Heres hoping Smoak gets a good send off today. I know he hasn't had his best year but overall he was a pretty good waiver claim from 5 years ago
  19. Always a favourite of mine as well....thanks Twisted
  20. I would vote you as the worst avatar
  21. I remember John Havak doing a great job with a complete Nightly System recap featuring Player of the days etc.
  22. international funds must be traded in blocks of at least $250K as per MLB traderumours….so we know we got at least 250
  23. I don't have a problem with Morales or Martin.....but I would have called Tulos bluff on his comments last year. Just made him sit on the bench
