  1. Lind is awesome. Even when he gets out, he makes them work their ass off.
  2. Crowd was silent.. Kawasaki comes up.. and the roof blows off the place.
  3. Arencibia having a nice game. Izturis (maybe I'm wrong) has seemed to be hitting pretty well lately.
  4. .. He was trying to push bunt it (or whatever you want to call it). Great sac bunt by Kawasaki.
  5. Thanks! I like the trade though.. I always thought Frattin was good, but now I can actually like him since he's not wearing that ugly blue anymore.
  6. Hey! Towers was our best pitcher one year LOL how bad were we?
  7. I loved the plays Gonzalez used to make and he had some nice pop when he didn't swing and miss. Come to think of it, he was basically Arencibia 10 years ago (except he could play defense lol)
  8. I was never a huge fan of Snider. He was very average to me. Didn't hate him, but didn't love him.
  9. I guess it's a good thing I didn't post here when Josh Towers was my favourite Jay. Seriously it's went Todd Stottlemyre, Pat Borders, Alex Gonzalez, Frank Catalanotto/Josh Towers, Johnny Mac/Scott Downs, and now JP Arencibia/Adam Lind (love Janssen and Loup too).
  10. Pirates are my second favourite team. Pirates trading him (with the depth they had) wasn't so dumb. Not sure why when he came back he didn't get more playing time though. He's good.
  11. That never touched the ground (well the tip might have after JP caught it).
  12. Go Jays Go! PS. I wanted Nate McLouth when no one wanted him. Stupid GMs. Guy had some injury problems but he's got too much talent. Hate that we never gave him a chance.
  13. Saves, like every stat, don't tell the whole story. But they are still a good indicator of if a closer is getting the job done. To get the whole story you obviously need to check other stats and watch game video. RRA (Relief Run Average), IRS% (Inherited Runners scored % or Inherited runners stranded %, which is basically the same as IRA-Inherited Runs Allowed), and then you can go as deep as a whether the pitcher is a ground ball pitcher a fly ball type guy (as well as what hand they are) to see what fits your needs. Relief Run Average A pitching statistic used in baseball that measures a relief pitcher's ability to keep inherited runners from scoring once they enter the game. Any runner already on base when a relief pitcher enters is considered an inherited runner, and R.R.A. takes into account how many outs there are and where the runners are located. IRS% is a stat in OOTP games. Very useful, but again, doesn't tell the whole story. LOB% includes runners the pitcher put on. Who cares if a relief pitcher gives up a walk every time he comes out if he inherits two other runners and never gives up a run. His LOB% is going to be 3 players, while IRS% will only be 2 players (or 0% if you're using it as scored instead of stranded which I've seen done before). EDIT: Just saw someone else explained that. My bad.
  14. Janssen has been pretty mediocre outside of his save situations (and one of my favourite players). There's a huge difference between comparing a reliever and a closer too. A closer, you're obviously going to look at S/SO first - that's usually the most telling stat. For relievers, ERA isn't a bad stat but it's not as good as say RRA mixed with IRS%, but those stats are hard as hell to find.
  15. Right - you can't project 95% of players with any sense of certainty. Do you know how many Jays players have been "the next big thing" over even that past 15 years? However, when building a team (or being a fan), you put your faith into certain guys. That's the fun of being a fan. Sometimes your right, sometimes your wrong. Yet there's no consequences. But I'm still going to have an opinion - and the kid is improving ridiculously and still very young. Why shouldn't I think he's going to continue to pitch well? He's shown nothing to say that he won't continue his current ways..
  16. Yes, because that's what I said. Yes, I used ERA - I'm new here and I don't know how in-depth this forum is. ERA doesn't tell everything but it still tells a story. As for trading Oliver for nothing - I said that no where. I said I'd see what the market is. I didn't say I'd trade him for nothing. If a contender is looking for a reliable bullpen arm that has a struggling pen, maybe we could get something of value. A "overpayment" considering his future with the Jays isn't going to last past this year, IMO.
