I think you have a pretty bad misconception of McCutchen's value. Yes, he had one bad season, but that was preceded by a string of seasons where he was one of the best players in baseball. He is still on a very team-friendly deal ($14M for next season and a $14.5M team option for 2018) and he only just turned 30. I would trade all of Travis, Alford, Pompey and probably any two other prospects not named Vlad Guerrero Jr. (actually I probably would include him, McCutchen is really good) for him in a heartbeat. He currently projects for around 3.5 WAR and I don't think anyone would be surprised to see him pass the 5 win mark again.
