    He's got a weird profile for a MIF prospect unless he can actually play the OF at a respectable level. Depending on the power he could have Kyle Schwarber or Justin Smoak type offense with Michael Young-like positional versatility (can play a few different positions but none very well). Maybe prime Rickie Weeks if everything goes well.

    The Lakers with LeBron are probably the most attractive free agent destination in the league, the only reason why I wouldn't bank on this team making the playoffs this year is that the Western conference is much tougher than the East. This Lakers team isn't really much worse than the 2018 Cavs and has a much higher ceiling with younger players. Yes LeBron will eventually start declining, but barring any major injury (which is possible due to his incredibly high mileage) he's far from not playing at an elite level. Dirk Nowitzki was only a year younger than LeBron currently is when he beat the Heat in 2011 and he wasn't the athletic freak that the latter is. This move to LA may have had a lot of PR and personal reasons attached to it beyond his own playing career, but it certainly does not signify the beginning of the end for him.

    Lol retirement tour, he's still arguably the best player in the league. I don't know if the Lakers are good enough yet to make the playoffs, but LeBron's career is far from over as things stand.

    This is pretty much what Oakland did this year. Matt Chapman is a genuine superstar and he was surrounded by a lot of really good players but not another star, sure Jed Lowrie was nearly a 5 win player but in a contending year the odds are high that some other players would have complimented your best with a great year.

    Freese put up a 140 wRC+ over more PAs and is a career 134 wRC+ hitter against lefties. This isn't that shocking of a move.

    It's too bad we couldn't retain superstars Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion while they were still very clearly in their prime.

    Stanton's contact rates this season weren't substantially different from his career averages where he's been an elite player. He absolutely demolishes the ball, a .333 BABIP is high for him but given his quality of contact it's not that ridiculous. I see this as more of a down year than the beginning of a hard decline, he's still an excellent hitter and a superb athlete who won't hurt you with baserunning or on defense, an elevated K rate is not that big of a concern for a player of his caliber who has always performed in spite of it.

    The Yankees weren't actually very flawed at all, Gary Sanchez kinda sucks but he's better than a lot of other teams' catchers and they had suspect defense at third from a breakout rookie. The rest of the team is stacked at the top, they just happened to face the best team in baseball in the first round despite having the second best overall record.

    He was a 4-win player this season, I don't think the Yankees will regret this very much. For a lot of other teams his massive contract would be crippling, but for them they won't be too affected and will take even what's considered a subpar performance relative to his elite level. What they need to do is stop babying him at DH and put him on the field while he can still probably provide value.
