  1. Yadier Molina is now the second best defender of all time. Not exactly surprising tbh, but really puts it into perspective.
  2. This inclusion made Ryan Doumit the 2nd least valuable player since 1940.
  3. He definitely passes the eye test of an excellent defensive catcher, framing included. It's no surprise that the team values him highly, and he has supposedly acted as a good mentor to Danny Jansen.
  4. Danny Barnes was DFA'd and he wasn't even claimed. There's next to zero chance that he makes the team, considering we'd have to bump someone off the 40-man to make room for him. Axford could make it in theory but he's also not on the 40-man so it's the same scenario.
  5. I would imagine it replaces his current deal, probably giving him a bit more AAV in those two years that he has remaining.
  6. He'll also have produced billions of dollars in value for the Angels org. He's unfathomably good.
  7. Not really, his defense was elite his first season, that was probably an outlier, then he had a couple of poor/below-average seasons and has since settled in as an average/above-average fielder since. He's also gotten better as a hitter, consistently. He'll project for like 25-30 WAR in the next three years alone, Mike Trout is so good that unless injuries start to settle in he could easily produce surplus value in this deal, or more likely at least break even. That's worth it for literally one of the best players of all time, good on the Angels, hopefully they don't squander this opportunity like they have thus far in Trout's career.
  8. Another dinger for Tellez after Bo went to the opposite field warning track.
  9. Yup, and depending on whether we see Ureña or Sogard as the backup infielder then we could see Gurriel with some SS reps, Drury seeing some time at 2B, and Gurriel also getting the occasional appearance in the outfield.
  10. https://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/blue-jays-acquire-pitcher-jason-adam-royals-cash-considerations/sn-amp/ Minor move. From what I can gather he started out as somewhat noteworthy 40/40+ FV starter with the Royals, got traded to the Twins in 2014, got injured for two full seasons, was released, signed as a minor league FA with the Padres as a reliever, then back to the Royals and has worked his way up showing great strikeout rates at every level including a 30 inning MLB sample. Mid 90s fastball, hard changeup and a curveball in the high 70s.
  11. Josh Naylor in the outfield. https://www.mlb.com/video/posey-s-rbi-triple-c2523690983?t=most-popular
  12. I hate the removal of replay idea but every other one is pretty good, though I'm ambivalent about the shortened regular season. Replay itself needs to be faster, 100%, but I don't think the idea of getting calls correctly and holding umps accountable should be pushed back.
  13. This really isn't going to happen at all, I don't understand why people believe that's how it's going to play out. It's a simple fix, if a pitcher comes out of the game injured then they'll force the team to be put them on the 10/15-day DL or add a special exception and make them sit out for 3-5 days while taking up a roster spot barring actual injury.
  14. Love both of these: No one cares about the Derby anymore but it's good to give incentive to top players to participate and bring some life into it. I'm skeptical about the commercial breaks being shortened, it's great but I imagine that'll mean more mid-inning advertising and potentially give way to the dreaded sponsor(s) patch on the uniform in the future.
  15. Also not mentioned but interesting:
  16. Waiver priority order is updated. It looks as follows: 20-13: Top 8 records from last season, in reverse order (best record got 20th waiver priority, 8th best got 13th waiver) - no one here participated in dispersal draft 12. Chubs 11. Ling34 10. Littlemoon 9. The Bad Guy 8. spittin 7. EZe These were determined in reverse order of highest dispersal draft pick, Chubs with the first selection got the worst waiver priority and EZe with the last selection in the first round got the best. 6-1: Remaining managers that didn't participate in dispersal draft or make the playoffs, also listed in reverse order of standings.
  17. I will be inputting the waiver wire order shortly. The order will be last year's standings in reverse (i.e. worst gets the first waiver priority) with everyone participating in the dispersal draft bunched up around the middle (waiver priority 10).
  18. If this is allowed, I'm trading my upcoming pick (82) along with a fifth round waiver from next year to silvergun for his fourth round waiver next year.
  19. It's a very Poppovich thing to do, don't see many other coaches pull that move though.
  20. He's really not a good young player at all. Average hitter at best that doesn't provide anything with baserunning or defense from a corner, and isn't young enough to care about a potential breakout. He's barely above replacement level at best.
  21. Yeah my bad. Ignore my PM connorp.
  22. EZe said he'll pass I believe so connorp again.
  23. We're going with Felix Peña.
