  1. Hell of a tag by Sogard, it really shouldn't have been as close as it was.
  2. And just like that Griffin Canning has completely lost it. The team adjusted to the slider outside and it's been an entirely different pitcher.
  3. The one in the second inning? If so then of course, it was a line drive into LF.
  4. And Freddy Galvis with the Jeter-esque positioning lol.
  5. Lol @ Justin Bour not scoring on that. Trout with the very very rare mistake.
  6. It's nice to see Buchholz hitting 90 with frequency tonight. I think he was topping out around 88 in his previous starts.
  7. He's throwing 3 or 4 plus pitches with excellent location, these aren't easy pitches to determine if they're strikes or balls.
  8. Andrelton Simmons is incredible, what an incredible play and he made it look routine.
  9. They try to do that with Dan who likes to bring up some of the more advanced stuff from time to time but Buck dismisses it every time and just continues blabbering on. When it's Buck and Pat though it's just unbearable.
  10. Griffing Canning making his debut, that should be fun. I also had no idea Luis Rengifo had been called up.
  11. Why juice the players when you can just juice the ball? Much better for PR purposes.
  12. John Gant showing some filthy stuff out of the bullpen. Two-seamer at 97-98 with crazy movement, a huge overhand curveball and a nasty splitter/changeup with absurd drop.
  13. The Astros broadcast has always been ahead of the game in showing some of the more advanced stats and giving a decent explanation for them, I remember a WAR graphic a few years back. I believe the Rays have done the same. It's frankly embarrassing that we employ Buck and Pat and make zero attempt towards an effort to increase the knowledge of our general fanbase.
  14. It's been speculated/proven(?) that the current MLB ball is juiced which is leading to increase offensive output on flyballs. With that said, as Laika pointed out, it's pretty much irrelevant to put any consideration of the ball into Biggio's increased offense since the rest of the league is also using the same ball, and that will be accounted for in a stat like wRC+ or any other that adjusts to the league average and competition.
  15. A high BABIP in the minors is usually an indicator of solid contact, I wouldn't dismiss it as strongly as you would a high BABIP in the majors. Franco is far more impressive obviously, but Groshans is very exciting as well.
  16. Good s***, kid finally started showing some of those tools that scouts raved about. He annihilated high A pitching.
  17. I'm good with the move because Drury is finally swinging the bat well and our other OF options decidedly have not, but it should be noted that Drury rated as a horrendous OF back in 2016 when he played the majority of games there. Granted, it was three years ago and defensive metrics for a full season are full of noise, so let's see what he shows us tonight. It'd be great if he could play at the very least at a simply below average level.
  18. He crushes the ball to the opposite field. If he continues to make contact he could be in for a good year, considering that the defense in the infield has been much better than anyone would have anticipated.
  19. And right below him you have recently turned 18 year old Wander Franco with more walks than strikeouts and a .257 ISO. Ridiculous.
  20. League average K rate in 2005 was 6.38/9, last season it was 8.53 K/9. Verlander was also coming off 86 IP at A+ with 104 strikeouts and 19 walks. Don't play this game with me Hurl.
  21. Well obviously you'd love to have JV but then we wouldn't have Gasol dominating opposing matchups and running the offense so we just have to live with the bench and rebounding being an issue. We need much better lineups from Nurse though, Gasol has to be on for every single minute that Embiid is and Jodie Meeks should never ever play a meaningful playoff minute. Is Patrick McCaw not 100%? He's a very good long and athletic defender and is at least capable of making a few passes on the offensive end, I'd give him all of Meeks' minutes and possibly some of Powell's if he continues playing like this.
