  1. First of all, who the f*** is Buddy Boshers? That is certainly a name.
  2. His ERA is worthless. His FIPs and xFIP (SSS for 2019) + projection 2016: 2.80 FIP, 3.15 xFIP 2017: 3.55 FIP, 3.75 xFIP 2019: 4.78 FIP, 5.03 xFIP RoS Steamer projection: 4.25 FIP David Phelps is not worth losing sleep over. The Cubs have a tire fire bullpen and are just throwing s*** at the wall and hoping that Phelps sticks.
  3. His ERAs over the past three years are: 3.40 N/A 3.63 What's that in the middle? Oh right, he missed a year to TJS and then his fastball velocity dipped by 2 mph, as did his production and projections.
  4. 18 year old **High A ball pitcher, thank you very much.
  5. This is pathetic for the Padres. Like it a lot for the Reds and I think the Indians did very well also.
  6. Damnit, I wanted to see Bo's wheels.
  7. Trevor Bauer is a better pitcher than Stroman, and I feel like this deal just about accurately reflects that difference in their value.
  8. Wow what a play by Teoscar that time.
  9. There better be some other pieces involved because it seems to me AJ Preller just got bent over a table.
  10. Everybody shut the f*** up about Kolby Allard.
  11. f***, his velocity has been going down? He's 21! That's a big no from me.
  12. As far as relatively well regarded prospects go, Allard is probably one of the grosser ones. Advanced command lefty who doesn't throw hard at all. It's entirely possible even the Braves don't value him as a 45 FV prospect, and they might be all in on Chris Martin's breakout as a reliever, which is dumn but the relief market never makes any sense.
  13. As opposed to having another generic reliever on the 40 man? Hatch doesn't presently need to be on the 40 man, and we'll have him for a couple of months to decide if he's worth adding. He's probably not much worse than Phelps is if you converted him to relief tomorrow.
  14. I'm not sure it's fair to compare their careers. Bauer's talent level or present day ability has clearly changed since his first few seasons with the Indians. He's a premier strikeout pitcher with a rubber arm so he'll basically pitch every game in the playoffs if you so desire, and his ceiling is clearly higher than Stroman's. Stroman is incredibly consistent but I don't think he's the better pitcher or the better asset. In the present landscape of the game, I think a minimum of 25/30 teams take Bauer without thinking twice given his last 3 years of performance, and more importantly last season where he was one of the best pitchers in baseball.
  15. He's not part of the 40-man but if fangraphs' contract stuff is correct he'll be Rule 5 eligible this offseason.
  16. Well Bauer is substantially better than Stroman and follows the Astros' model to a tee, so unless the + is significant it shouldn't make a difference for us.
  17. Depth charts projects him as having ~18 more games remaining, and I don't think we'd be stingy enough to willingly sit him out over that.
  18. Poor man's Loup for Waguespack. Phelps' hasn't been that great since coming back, his velocity is 2 mph slower than when he last pitched and the projections are meh. Hatch is probably a fine depth starter and could probably be a reliever as good as present David Phelps if not better if he's converted.
  19. You're out to lunch here bud. All the rankings have Pardinho ahead, and it's obvious why. He's 4 only months younger, doesn't throw as hard, his body type isn't as projectable, has substantially worse numbers at the same level, and the real combo finisher: he's missed time with an elbow injury.
