  1. Best time for Diaz to his his first jack of the year.
  2. Come on Colby! Make up for your horrible ABs and jack one!
  3. They might have to put Tillman on a suicide watch knowing he gave up the only ball Goins hit out of the infield all year and it was a bomb haha
  4. Holy damn! Ryan Goins finally picks up a Homer and RBI!
  5. Ah good points. No need to burn the clock or bring them up too early and get shelled. I guess it's better treading water if need be and then see what the kids have later on.
  6. Why do I have the feeling that Happless and McGowan will be switching places soon rather than just giving the chance to a prospect to show what he has?
  7. I'm making a run to the gas station for some cheap booze, who wants/needs some?
  8. Exactly! They don't seem to realize MLB hitters tend to know what pitch is coming, in what count, where it might be and still miss. You kind of figure it out. 0-2 and the pitcher has a nasty curve you bet you might see it low in the zone and probably will drop out to get you to swing and miss. Anything is better than saying "I guess our pitchers just suck against the Jays and in the RC."
  9. This "Man In White" is kind of like Sasquatch. No one ever sees him except for when it's out of focus, for a period of time measured in Plank Time, always disappearing right after he relays the signs to the Jays hitters. Poor, deluded O's fans. Do they really think someone has to tell the Jays hitters what's coming? Tillman is throwing 90 mph fastballs letter high, right down the middle of the plate. Any major league hitter would crush them.
  10. I'm glad he's no longer on this team. It's even funnier in a mean way that he's struggling even worse than he did here. At least for this instance the Jays aren't the team making the bad moves.
  11. This is still a thing? Maybe your pitcher serve up meatballs and/or the Jays have some decent power hitters. Nah! They're cheating! Some guy in a white shirt that far away is telepathically sending the pitch, location, velocity well in advance and his little hand signals are to help out. Totally legit! The Lawrie being a jerk thing is probably true but what does it have to do with the homers hit? Just seems like some people rambling on and on. Didn't MLB investigate the claim and basically laugh it off?
  12. That's the best thing to do. Jettison him after he shows he can't handle it, and give Jenkins a shot and see if he's worth keeping around. Rogers' contract isn't guaranteed since he was arbitration eligible so if they let him go they save a bit of cash unless I'm mistaken.
  13. Might as well let Rogers pitch himself off the team. If he can throw a clean inning in a 10 run game he can't make it in a tighter score. It's early but he's been horrendous so far. It really stings what they gave up for him. :/
  14. The team planes of the Yankees and Red Sox to collide in midair, bursting into flames and raining down upon the Trop in the middle of a Rays-O's game.
  15. Never mind!
  16. That seems to be what might keep him away. Having that knee fracture that kept him out so long might play in his mind running on carpet.
  17. That would probably be a clincher for him, ML deal and a spot on the roster instead of an invite. Base salary as well. If he winds up putting up decent numbers, he could always be trade bait. If he falters not out much.
  18. Pure speculation on my part, so apologies in advance, but referencing what AA said not too long ago about being in contact with a player who used to play every day, made some money and is looking to reestablish himself for next year, any chance it might be Grady Sizemore? Seems like he'd be one of those guys who would be a low risk high reward reclamation project AA seems to like. If he's healthy he might put up decent numbers and has played CF which would give the Jays a back up CF like they're looking for. Then again, he's missed substantial time with that knee injury and might not be able to play CF decently enough, hits left which would take a RH bat platoon away from Lind and is a health concern along with being out so long. Maybe a minor league deal with an invite with an incentive laden contract. I only thought of it because I saw his name pop up today and it seems like a fit. I'm probably wrong and wasted a post.
  19. Around ST last year he said he planned on retiring after his contract was up, before being traded to the Yankees. He's been DFA, really only had one maybe two decent months last year, will likely not be offered a starting role anywhere so I wouldn't think he'd be in a rush to ride a bench for this year unless he really wanted to prove something. He cited focusing on family as one of the reasons he planned on retiring after 2014 so if you were him and are now given a chance to be with your family a year sooner PLUS get paid for it would you just say screw it and sit home and then retire at the end of the year formally? I wouldn't be opposed if AA gave him an invite to ST once he's released if he decides to give it another shot as a player this year. I might be in the minority but I'd rather him compete and earn a spot on the roster than hand one to him considering the players already on the roster, NRI, and the possibility of anyone else being brought in between now and ST who might be able to do what he did last year. I could be wrong, he could have a decent year and go out on a high note if he wanted to play this year.
  20. Watching the video he seemed to choke up a bit a few times and seems upset he's leaving but also loves the fact he's going to be with his family a lot more. Mentioned he has some back issues that have caused him to alter his mechanics which lead to shoulder issues and he just doesn't think he'd be able to pitch too long with it. Very nice of him to sign one day contract to go out as a Jay. How often does that actually happen? http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article/tor/two-time-cy-young-award-winner-roy-halladay-retires?ymd=20131209&content_id=64495310&vkey=news_tor
  21. How much convincing would someone really need to accept a 5 year $85M contract from the Yankees? He wasn't going to see anywhere near that amount offered elsewhere plus the Yankees are usually a competitive club year in and year out with a few exceptions since about 1995-96. I'm not knocking Hinske but I really doubt his conversations really did that much to lure him there. He probably helped, like many players help when other players consult them about what it's like to play in a certain city, for a certain team and such. I think Cashman was just giving some extra thanks to him. Outside of that I think the money and chances of making the playoffs and World Series is the key factors to accepting that deal. Hinske is under contract to be a coach elsewhere so I'm not sure if he could actually give advice/recommendations to players on where they should sign without getting in trouble with the Cubs and/or MLB. I doubt his recommendation would lead to any FA coming to Toronto. Whole new ballgame in TO since he left. If FA aren't going to sign in Toronto his word isn't going to convince them where he's working for the Jays or not.
  22. It's that time of year so maybe he'll be making his plethora of waiver claims starting tonight?
  23. I'd really prefer going after someone other than either of them. Nolasco would cost a fair amount to sign. His FB rate makes me nervous at RC. He's been mediocre most of his career though playing for some bad teams. He's probably a solid #3 if this year is an indication that he's turned it around but I'd rather see the Jays go after a solid #2. An Ace is probably unlikely.
