  1. They certainly aren't shooting for the bottom of the standings
  2. Buehrle isn't retiring next season and I expect his stats would improve in the NL.
  3. Who's more likely to put up a 3WAR season next year, Castro or Buehrle? I think Buehrle, even though I like Castro as an above average SS. I actually said I wouldn't give up much more than Gose. I don't think Alcantra will hit so why would I suggest giving up very much for him?
  4. I wouldn't give up much more than Gose. I don't think Alcantra is going to hit very well at the MLB level (not that Gose can either).
  5. Buehrle is significantly under-valued here.
  6. How is that giving away Castro?
  7. 200IPquality innings, good leader for a young staff
  8. Buehrle + $ for Castro makes a lot of sense IMO.
  9. One is possible the other only in your head.
  10. I don't know if I would call Jager hard liquor, maybe a hard liqueur but whatever.
  11. I don't mind Happ, far from a tough lefty though! More of a mediocre piece. You need a top of the rotation lefty in the AL East
  12. I'd rather sign Lester and Shields and move Dickey and Buehrle.
  13. I'd prefer Lester but just for this team. The Jays really need to add a tough lefty.
  14. I think he chose to divert amateur $ to the big league payroll and signed a bunch of FA to stay moderately competitive. They had some good teams they just happened to play against two AL East juggernauts for his tenure in TO. All that being said JPR wasn't the answer here, he never appreciated the market and treated it as small. I wish Gillick would come back and run the club as president w/ AA as his minion.
  15. Very true. Slot is a little deceiving though as I imagine he didn't have the budget to go above slot. IMO his biggest downfall was his infatuation with low upside college players. Adams, Cooper, Romero (only b/c Tulo), Purcey, Jackson were all pretty brutal selections even at the time.
  16. I think AA can still be a successful GM. He needs a better president than Beeston running the show.
  17. The 1st part is correct, JPR drafted very conservatively but he did make some high upside picks (Snider comes to mind). He knew that to make it work in TO you had to blend youth (and cheap production) with veteran players and that it would be a challenge to recruit top FA's to Toronto. His focus was on not missing on a draft pick, I think he learned that low risk guys are still risky. The Mets have had a pretty solid draft record since he got there and I think it has something to do with his experience and failures in Toronto.
  18. It's not like they don't throw in extended spring. Tirado needs a lot of work and EST he can get the extra instruction it appears he needs. That beings aid apparently the Jays have said he'll be in Lansing next year so it's a moot point.
  19. I definitely missed that. Labourt should be in full season ball next year though. Thanks for sharing.
  20. I wouldn't be shocked at all. Tirado was terrible this year. I think he needs to go back to extended spring and work on his mechanics.
  21. Smoral, Tirado and Smith still have a lot to prove at the level. I don't think they will be there long but that's where I think they start. I think the hope is all can 3 can get some innings in Dunedin and reach AA in 2016.
  22. May, think he supposed to be back before then though. Not too sure where he'll be at for innings. I think he'll likely finish around 100IP if all goes to plan.
  23. Apparently he's hit or miss at SS. Can make some amazing plays but botches routine outs. If he can find consistency he can stick but it might be better to move him to 2B where he has the athleticism to excel.
  24. Depends where he is at when they break extended Spring. If he's healthy they'll challenge him.
