  1. Yeah, but do they need to pick 'em in the top 10 rounds, if it's not a strategy to save money for earlier/later picks?
  2. Man, I'm just not used to having TV. I'm on vacation this week up at my folks' cottage... I'm trying to get their s***** internet to work so I can steam the game and after 20 minutes I realize "oh right, they have TV here so I can just turn THAT on..."
  3. Yeah, but that's the whole "cutting off your nose to spite your face" thing... And in this day and age, there's no way that any player gets drafted by a team without both sides having a good idea of what dollar figure it will take to make a deal happen. I'm just not seeing any of the guys picked in rounds 5+ getting their slot value, they all seem like guys that were picked 'cause they'd be cheap. (I'm assuming the FO thinks they could contribute and won't just be release candidates in 6 months, but none of them jump off the page, and none of them were on anyone's top 100s)
  4. Yeah, the off season was a given, but if he didn't have to be added this year, we'd have another spot to play with to keep bringing Bolsinger types up... Unless he ends up on the 60 day, which I hope not... I'd really like to see him just steal the job from Carrera
  5. Thing is, players only have a certain amount of leverage... None of these guys can go to the Jays and be like "I want lots of money", 'cause nobody would have given them that money. These are guys who nobody things really highly of, so they'll probably take $50K to play ball, rather than go on to their senior year when they might be taking $5K, if they get drafted at all. They're not totally desperate, they likely won't take $10K or less (except the guy we just drafted who is absolutely getting $5-10K) but they'll be well under slot.
  6. I mean... That's the point in selecting guys like this way earlier than their talent dictates, right? You save money. These are probably guys who go well under slot, the lot of 'em.
  7. Another one that seems like a money saving sign... Zach Logue, College lefty. Not good numbers, small dude... Not sure what's there...
  8. I wonder if this is an attempt to grab him and turn him back into a pitcher... This should be a super easy sign though, so flexibility!
  9. Well, the 'stache and the uniform match, does he have a rusty, windowless van to complete the ensemble?
  10. Cullen Large. Switch hitting college 2B
  11. "Swung well with wood in his hands". Sounds like a pretty good weekend!
  12. I think they've gotta be a bit careful with the 40 man roster at this point, they've added Smith Jr. and Alford already (neither of whom I assume they wanted to add quite this early).
  13. Pretty much exactly this, there's no need to jump on him, he'll be available past round 20 IMO.
  14. That's just Ang's shtick for any non-Mexican prospects.
  15. Well, the one big plus for me is that Warmoth sounds like he could be a pokemon, which is funny.
  16. The background music is a soundalike for Blink 182. Weird.
  17. That's two that would have been homers @ Fenway....
  18. He did qualify it to only include D... Crafty phrasing!
  19. He's not wrong, that's a completely useless warning track.
  20. I think this team might be putting it together a bit...
  21. Alford this afternoon.
  22. This ump, like all umps, is terrible at his job. Please, dear f***ing lord, give me a computerized strike zone before I drink myself to death.
